    Not always, it is one of those things like having a flaky PSU that can have all sorts of effects. Hence the first thing I do on a new build is an overnight memtest.

    Windows can stay up for quite a while with marginal memory as well.

    Could he be missing chipset drivers? just running of default generic chipset drivers?
