    Re: BF4 rig

Re you upgrading from the system in your profile? If so, the upgrade to the GPU will get you 95% of the performance gains (I went 6300/670 > 4790/970SLI and tested the new cards in the old board, still 150FPS+ in BF4). If it were me I'd save the cash and wait to see what 3XX brings anyway.

    Re: BF4 rig

Are you just going to game? If not i5 would be more than enough. If not OCing you could without the Z97 (and maybe without the K version).

As herulach said was mentioning Radeon 3xx series are not too far around the corner and the prices of the R290x will come down.

    What s you overall budget?

    Re: BF4 rig

I also agree that you'd probably be better off and save a heck of a lot of money by sticking with what you have and just upgrading the GPU if necessary. Not least because BF4 supports Mantle so is even less CPU-dependent, though it's fairly well-threaded to begin with.

Memory makes no appreciable difference in gaming performance, same for motherboard and obviously things like PSU.

You already have an SSD, and the difference in game load performance between SSDs is quite small vs HDD to SSD.

Really, you have a solid system anyway; you really won't get a lot for your money by upgrading it.

    Re: BF4 rig

To play BF4, you might as well save money and just buy a GPU and an FX8xxx. Not much mileage swapping to intel for the game that makes best use of AMD CPUs.
