    Potential Skylake mATX Build

After keep putting it off I think it's finally time to retire my current PC and upgrade. Motherboard memory slots starting to fail and not recognising the ram (seems to be a common issue over time)
Anyway I plan on reusing the drives, graphics (now a 380) and psu. I've got a 5.25" fan controller I'd like to keep as well(something to look at really!) Anyway I've specced out the following. I've gone mATX so got a bit more room under the desk:
    i5 6600k
    Asus Z170M Plus
    Antec H600 AIO cooler
    Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000
    BitFenix Prodigy M case.

Happy to take any recommendations on ram/case. Is the extra for the 3000 MHz vs 2400 MHz worth it. Aiming for around a £500 spend maximum but the lower the price the better.

Edit: just seen that MSI are doing £18 cashback on the Z170M Mortar board. Only thing that puts me off is the lack of reviews/full size M2 port. Thoughts?

How about a silverstone TJ08-E? It's got less fan slots, but is smaller and has more room inside - the 5.25" bays don't foul the expansion slots. It is quite awkward to work in, but I haven't touched a prodigy so I can't make any kind of comparison - the silverstone ought to have more room to stash cables at least. I've got one, and I'm pleased with it

Hadn't considered the case but after reading around I think the prodigy is a bit too awkward for my liking. I'll have to take a look at the silverstone but I've seen the Aerocool DS cube which looks pretty smart or the Fractal Design Arc Mini R2 which although bigger ticks the boxes

What about the corsair air 240, that's a nice case. And, why no dedicated gpu?

    Doesn't have a 5.25 bay. Reusing my existing R9 380 so don't need one

Matx waste of time with double slot graphics card your only left with one pcie slot to use as the 3rd one is taken up by the gpu fans aswell.

Depends on what MATX case you get Ipurchased a £13.80 Zalman T4 V2 which is nearly the same height as a mid tower ATX but a lot shallower depth and theres a lot out there that are the opposite with a shorter height about 360mm but over 410mm in length There's not a lot in the height difference between my matx and ATX mid tower. But the length of ATX is huge I regret it and should of bought an ATX mid or Coolermaster HAF.

    Re: Potential Skylake mATX Build

Most dual slot cards don't protrude into the third slot, and something like a wifi card won't impede the airflow at all. Dual GPU action with a pair of dual slot cards is pushing it a bit, but a pair of 120mm sealed liquid coolers would keep everything nice and cool and wouldn't totally break the bank. MATX is cheaper than MITX anyway, so you're paying less for at least one extra expansion slot

    Re: Potential Skylake mATX Build

This was my issue with ITX as you were paying a chunk more for much less and the mATX boards come with 4 memory slots if I wanted to use it for some VM work down the line. The biggest issue I'm having is picking a case. The Arc Mini while smaller than my CM 690 is still fairly big but the airflow and flexibility is awesome compared to the Aerocool DS Cube which is much smaller, looks better IMHO but the airflow is pretty poor. I can put a couple of extra fans in the top but will end up with negative pressure in the case (unless I do one in and one out)
I've got an Antec H600 coming today which I'm planning on using on the existing PC as a tester for how good it is then move it to the new build when I get it.
