Akasa card reader any one else experienced this?

    Hiya All,

    Me again :-)

Doesnt really bother me as i dont use this part, but its one of those things that will wriggle inside my head untill i sort it.. even though i dont use the thing..... anyway

the front panel (akasa) card reader was all working fine, and all of a sudden, its just doesnt work - the extra usb ports on it do, but the card reader doesnt fire up at all - no blue light when i stick a card in.

Windows 7 - 64 bit drivers all installed from the akasa site when i saw it wasnt working....still nothing.....any ideas?

Could it be that i have way too much hanging off the USB's?? I have my x58 sidewinder mouse, merc stealth keyboard, xbox 360 controller receiver, printer & scanner, 2x external HDD's and my trusty iphone......

    Hi AlexHaden

Can you confirm if the drives for the card reader show up in windows when a card is inserted, if not please PM me your build number or drop it in an email to systemsupport@scan.co.uk so we can look into getting this changed for you

    Regards

    Ben

Re: Akasa card reader any one else experienced this?

my akasa card reader came up as as ehome infrared device and i had to manually install driverpick from a list and choose usb composire device, the only issue i have with it is that none of the drives show up until something is inserted in them then they work fine but just not listed on my computer.

Re: Akasa card reader any one else experienced this?

    Hi,

Did anyone ever get to the bottom of this problem, I seem to have the same with my 3XS systems Akasa AK-ICR-07. Windows reports a unknown device or a device not working and the SD card slot doesn't seem to work.

I've done a fresh install of Windows 7 x64 and loaded the drivers from akasa.co.uk/update.php?tpl=product/product.detail.tpl&no=181&type=Card%20Reader/Hub&type_sub=Card%20Reader&model=AK-ICR-07 but no luck.

Go there in the end. Removed the drivers completely, shut down the PC, disconnected the card reader, switched on and let windows decide it has happy with no card reader attached, power down, reconnect the card reader, power up and let Windows find it from scratch by itself. Poped up as a USB mass storage device and seems fine now.

Thanks for the quick email reply Ben,

Ok I thought I had posted the solution to this a while ago, its a win 7 problem not the card reader.

solution is really simple really, plug it in, wait for it to get detected as ehome reader, right click my computer/manage - when this is loaded go to device manager, then click on ehome reciever properties, then update driver, let me choose rather than auto.

    the choose mass storage device.

once this is done no matter which port you plug it into, it will always be detected as mass storage.
