    Windows 7 product key invalid

    Hi,

I re-installed Windows 7 recently, but I'm getting a Windows 7 activation issue where it's claiming the product key (as per sticker) at the back of my PC is invalid.

I've gone through the Microsoft Support pages and it claims this:

"The product ID number you entered is not supported in the country that you have selected. Enter another product ID number or select a different support option below."

When I enter the key manually I get this:

"We could not find your product ID number automatically. Please enter a product ID number below."

Any thoughts? Google isn't helping for once.

    Cheers,

    Yao

Phone the activation line, when it fails it'll put you through to an operator - when you explain the situation, they should be able to assist.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.

Yep what Dave said. I had to do this very recently. Just be prepared as you will likely get asked to phone another number (for the UK activations or something). When I called I got thru to same line again! Took 4 separate calls to finally get thru to the right person but they did get it sorted.
    Good luck.

It's probably OEM, doesn't work though normal activations usually. Sometimes you can change reg keys and it might work, but usually the operator should work it out for you.

Yes. Strangely enough, I didn't even get as far as speaking to someone. It's activated my OS with a random product key now. Madness.
