That's a beast of a system dude! 1250W PSU? A 700W would be more suitable... I'd personally opt for a 750W Be Quiet or Corsair and be done with it enjoy your build

Re: New to Scan and impressed :D

My main concern is the case, I don`t want the system to get too hot and I really don`t want to go with Liquid Cooling (apart from a sealed unit on CPU) as I have 2 very young and inquisitive kids who like to poke things
I like the look of the case and what I`ve read about it its a good deal, I`m hopefully going to put 2 x 1Gb XFX HD 5870 GF cards in, I know from experience that ATI`s can get up to 83 degrees full out but hope the case and fans etc can comfortably deal with the heat transfer.
I will have to put a 1TB hard drive in there too as the 60 gig SSD will be for OS and the 300 WD raptor will be for games etc. May update to another SSD once the price for the high gig HD`s come down a bit.

The 58* range run a lot cooler than the 48* range.

    Beast of a box !
Just a thought. Do you need an SSD and a Velociraptor ? I'd keep the SSD and change the Raptor to a 1Tb Samsung F3. YMMV of course.
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

Assuming your case is kept shut I don't see any worry at all from kids. What are you worried about them doing? Your case is going to weigh alot, no child is going to be moving it and there is not going to be anything on the exterior of the case thats pokeable.

I too think your psu is overkill, perhaps the 850W if you go with 2x 5870 and the 650W if you go for one.

I wouldn't have thought a raptor for a games drive is really going to be good value for money but if you have the money to spend why not I guess.

Looks like it's going to be an awesome machine, enjoy.

Re: New to Scan and impressed :D

Thanks for your input guys, I want a high powered PSU as I may add other hardware later on as well as go water cooling in the near future if everything is ok with the PC and the children. As for children they damaged beyond repair my 43" Pioneer Plasma TV a year back, dont know how he managed to do it but he did. Luckily the home insurance payed out for it that time.
Ive contacted scan and am just waiting for a price for the system to be built, cannot wait. Its an early B/Day Christmas prezzie to myself

Quote is going ok, just asking for some freebies and also so small details to iron out, system looks sweet though.
Am just wondering what the build time is for the system, I forgot to ask Lee Pennington. Maybe he will see this thread.

Re: New to Scan and impressed :D

I am just starting a new system build myself and will be going for similar specs to yourself.

A few points if you haven't already taken the plunge. The Silverstone FT02 should be coming out soon which features the same cooling system as the Raven 02. The Mobo is rotated 90 degrees and it has three adjustable fans blowing air directly across the components. In benchmarks the performance was excellent, in some cases more effective than open air cooling.

I don't think you'll need that 1250W power supply. I'm planning to go for the 1050 which is about £40 cheaper and even that might be overkill. You might possibly even get away with an 850.

Be aware of the fan intake on the H50 Corsiar cooler, it can disrupt air cooled cases if not mounted properly. Other than that happy building

The only thing I don't get about this rig is the hard drives. You should get an Intel SSD and ditch the raptor.

Already has both on the spec sheet from the looks of it.

SSD's right now are just not worth the extra cost. that memory will come raining down in price over the next year. Why not just throw £60 in there and get a decent 1TB solution.

    Hi Dark-Knight.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner - hardly been on here the last week or two with the Win7 launch.

Your system is being checked by 3XS team - we've a few items out of stock at present but nothing to worry about. Phil should be in touch soon to provide a build date, I believe he's sent the initial email to you.

    All the very best
