No, all good, just wanted to check what was happening. Would rather install the firmware update *before* it all goes wrong

    Wouldn't we all

Might wait and see how the update is before doing it myself, haven't had an issues at all so far. Let's hope it stays that way.

It will stay that way until your SSD has been in use for about 5000 hours, then it all gets messy. The patch was released to overcome this specific problem.

    Re: Crucial M4 Firmware Update

Yeah, I know about the issue, not getting there soon, still 4000 hours to go at least...

Seeing if the update works then I'll do it.

Of course. Let me know how it goes, if no issues (don't expect there to be any) let me know, then I'll update later in the week.

Updated fine although 4k read speed seems to have fallen (half of the 4k write speed!!! Can't remember it being like that before.

You guys use a CD or can you do it from USB? Haven't got any CD's lying around and don't want to use a DVD if I can avoid it.

SnootyJim, can you do me a favour? Can you run a speed test before and after to see if the 4k reads really do degrade after the update? Would be interested to know as my poor old brain can't remember what speeds were like pre-upgrade
