    Rma 274423 XFX 6850 1GB

    Hi
    I would like to ask for an update of my RMA 274423.
    I have RMA my XFX 6850 for replacement under warranty. The fault was the clicking cracking noise from the fan. The card was arrived at scan on Thursday 13 and there is no update i can check on scan website.

    please advice...

    Hi TarnxTarn,

    I can confirm your card was delivered on Thursday 13/09

    It was booked in by our returns department on Monday 17/09 and is currently being processed for return and testing by XFX.

    We will update you further once the outcome of testing by XFX is known.

    How long should i be expected until i have the card back?
    it has been 2 weeks now...

    After doing some reading, XFX turn around time can be few weeks to over months...

    I believe scan should do something about this or should not be selling this at first place...

    Just to summarise everything about this RMA...

    XFX 6850 XXX 1GB was bought in Nov 2011 at £ 99 inc Vat

    10 Sep: RMA requested at XFX and SCAN
    13 Sep: Item arrived at scan
    17 Sep: Item was forward to XFX for testing
    26 Sep: Item was back at Scan. The item consider end of life.
    26 Sep - 2 Oct: I was offered a replacement of LN43527 1GB XFX Radeon HD 7770 DD Core Edition rrp. £90.92 or a partial refund £60 inc VAT
    2 Oct: A replacement upgrade LN44063 Gigabyte 7850 OC was agreed with additional expense of £67.46 and the remain of original card warranty.

    Personally, I am not completely satisfy with whole RMA service with SCAN because,

    1. The 7770 offered as a replacement was considered to be lower range card compared to the 6850. This should not be offered at first place.

    2. The partial refund was unacceptable. I was told that nearly 1 year left in warranty period, the card should be refunded near half of the original price. This make my item life time value of 2 years. If i have to make a claim nearly the end of my warranty. I would get only few pounds back despite the current market value of a used product.

    3. The warranty the upgrade card which contain my considered amount of expense remained the same as the original 6850, despite the 3 yrs warranty of Gigabyte. I can understand that the remaining warranty should be the same if SCAN replace my 6850 with at least an equivalent card. Where the direct replacement could not be done by SCAN and a considered amount of additional expense, the replacement item should be considered as a new purchased item, therefore, the warranty should not be with original purchased.

    4. The email communication was sometime very slow and inefficient. I had to wait for several hours to few days to get a reply which did not answer all of the question or fail to explain the terms in details. However, it could be that my writing skill was not good enough.

    At the end I do not have much choice but to pay for the upgrade and accept the term scan offered as this has been too long and i would like to move on. I feel like the process is not flexible and fair.

    About the warranty... I understand this correctly, the upgrade replacement carrys the original 6850 remaining warranty.

    about choices, i am not what can i do to push scan. During the week, i have discuss the matter i feel about their choice yet they do only give the choice of refund, replacement or upgrade. I have raise my conern about the choice yet, i have not been given other alternative or a fair choice to reflect the concerns. due to my need of the graphic card, i am force to make a decision that i CAN live with yet not happy....

    if the choices offer by scan was based on XFX, i think scan could have done this better to offer me all choices and better explaination, not to leave me asking one at a time.

    and yes... xfx reputation speak for itself now...

    I thought the RMA thing is over... I got an email today 4 Oct saying my upgrade replacement Gigabyte 7850 2GB is no longer available.

    This is quite a bitter joke for me as.. on 3 Oct (yesterday) I was confirm about the upgrade and payment detail was taken. Moreover... this scan website still shows the item is still in STOCK !!!

    Just would like to update...

    I still have NOT heard from scan about the upgrade ETA or even a suggestion of alternative upgrade...

    this has been over 4 week since the last email... this make the total time of RMA over 8 weeks... without a 'CARD'

    my 'remaining' warranty is being wasted during 8 weeks for RMA... imagine .. if the RMA takes longer and the replacement receives when the warranty is all gone...

    Could you confirm the upgrade price?

    146.39- 90.92 = 55.47 GBP

    How would I proceed? My payment has been taken from return department last time.

    Thank you for process the replacement....

    According to the scan order process (checked on 7 Nov 15:22)
    The order still stuck at the 1st stage and has not been picked up yet...

    I am not sure if it is expected to be processed for delivery by the end of today or not...

    There is still no update or communication of the replacement process.

    The process has been stuck at payment process since 6 Nov 17:22

    'very disappointing'... that is all I can sum this up.....
