    Dodgy Samsung 226BW?

Bought a 226BW from Scan on Saturday it has backlight bleed coming from all sides but it is mostly noticable from the bottom. Also all colours darken as they go higher up the screen, i was just wondering this is normal or whether it is a faulty product.

Unfortunantly because i am a new forum user i cannot upload pictures

I bought one around 5 months ago. Mine was the same and I wasn't happy with it! I sent it back and it was found to be NFF, however, I still got a refund under the 7 day thingy! But I didn't get my postage refunded... and the postage for picking the monitor up was deducted from the amount refunded.

I would have went for one of the newer models... think it is a 226CW or something as they are meant to all be samsung panels - if you believe in all the hype about the panels.

However, I don't think the backlight bleed should be so obvious at all, especially uneven. If it was me I would send it back - but I am very very fussy.

I have a Dell 2407WFP-HC and I love it... so far cannot fault it. Watching a bluray movie on it is amazing... the quality difference is outstanding.. highly recommend the dell 24"

    Re: Dodgy Samsung 226BW?

I jsut got this monitor and it is the same. However i dont think it is faulty. Its just the way tft's are. My sony bravia doesnt have any but it cost 5 tiomes as much. So i guess you get what you pay for. Apart from the bleeding through (which you rarely see) its perfect.

Well. I've just had a new Lucoms Daewoo 19" monitor (I prefer the 'squarer' format) and there's no discernable backlight on it. I certainly wouldn't want such 'noise'.

got the same samsung from ebuyer, its perfect and no dead pixels. I was dreading it. but even if there was one slight imperfection I'd have sent it back, for free!

So could scan confirm if these are meant to have this backlight bleed? I wouldnt want to think i have a faulty screen.

    Re: Dodgy Samsung 226BW?

All the reviews ive read said there is some backlight bleed especially on screensavers with black, for gaming and films you shouldn't notice. Theres is some controversy about Samsung about a panel lottery on the 226 and they are not all Samsung. the 226CW gurantees a Samsung panel, but the greatest offer is for the 2232 pebble, which is considered to be the better choice.

    Re: Dodgy Samsung 226BW?

I was going to get the 2232BW but there was none in stock when i went to Scan, the backlight bleed is does not bother me as much as the colours getting darker towards the top.

    Re: Dodgy Samsung 226BW?

The darker colours is all to do with viewing angle.

the monitor need to be at a good angle with ur vision, u wont get dark colour going up.

if i start lowering my head below a decent viewing angle i see darker colours too. but i don;t think its a monitor issue, just TTF in general?

    Re: Dodgy Samsung 226BW?

I got this monitor last week for my uncle, i did notice blacklight bleed on all sides but wasn't that bad when playing movies etc and that was mt only fault with it. If i were to keep it though i think i would have sent it back for a pva model - but my uncle seemed happy.

ok, actually by seeing that colour difference pic, i would say there most likely something wrong with it, coz i've just tried that on mine and it was fine. so yea, if u could return it it would just put ur mind at rest, instead of keeping it.
