Re: 2GB vs 4GB RAM in Vista?
Ph4Zed, it's still worth going for the 4Gb even for 32bit OS, although you will not be able to access the full amount (I think you get roughly 3.5Gb). This is especially useful when you run many applications or memory intensive applications.
As most have pointed out, memory is so cheap nowadays that you might as well go for it, whether you want 32bits or 64bits OS, that'll down to how new your setup will be and be able to find the drivers. In recent Computer Shoppers article, it seems that more and more people are moving to 64bits, hopefully, this will make hardware companies to provide more 64bits driver. |

Re: 2GB vs 4GB RAM in Vista?
I got 4GB for £50 from scan (about £6 off with today only), hasnt arrived yet, but even tho i may not be using 64 bit, the extra 1.5gb is worth it, especially the fact its cheap. If you compare 2x1gb and 2x2gb the 2x2gb will be cheaper.

Re: 2GB vs 4GB RAM in Vista?
I did a few tests here - it's not definitive and performance will depend on other components in your system, but it should give you an idea.

Re: 2GB vs 4GB RAM in Vista?
I just received another 2gb of ddr2 from scan today. My first impressions are that I can't really tell any difference between 2 and 4gb in Vista (x64), except for games (crysis in particular) which seems to load significantly faster. I also dont get any hd thrashing when quitting them, the desktop is instantly responsive again. For an extra 30 odd quid I think it's worthwhile.

Re: 2GB vs 4GB RAM in Vista?
One thing you have to be careful of with Vista is actually installing the OS with any more than 2GB of Ram certain motherboards (mine included dont like it)
