Hi Scan,

Sorry but we cannot confirm the stepping/week codes on any of the processors I'm afraid unless they have been specifically binned seperately. This is because we have more than 1 active supplier for the processors and as such there is always the risk of us having mixed batches in stock.
Intel did this with the Q6600 G0 stepping but we do not have any indications to if this is going to be done for any of the other processor ranges.
Best Regards,
E0 spec# for E8500 is SLB9K
C0 spec# is SLAPK
still no real help though, since if you have several suppliers then C0 and E0 will be mixed together
Yeah its the E0 SLB9K that I'm after not the C0 stepping. Some sites do have listed which steppings they are, so I'll have to get from elsewhere, which is annoying as I'd much prefer to get my entire new system from one place.
I also noticed that the Asus Maximus Extreme motherboard I was wanting to order has gone up £20 in the past 5 days or so from just under £170 to nearly £190? Even Overclockers are cheaper on that board which amazes me because they are soooooo pricey!!
For the entire system I'm looking at, Overclockers were £208 more expensive!
Hi,IMO wouldn't have thought it would be good for Scan,if its found that they are more selective for certain customers or certain Forum members. At least not if its all out on a open Forum.
Cheers BOB
I'm not asking for preferential treatment. The E8600 is listed as an E0 stepping processor and the E8500 isnt stated as being the same and wondered why this is the case. I don't want to spend £130 on a CPU which isnt going to perform as well as its inferior to the newer editions.
Guys....
We can't sell a CPU stepping we don't have in stock ..
We will keep checking ....
Regards

Out of interest and sorry to the OP, can you tell me exactly what stepping is?
Cheers
Jon
It's the "version" or revision of the said chip.
Lets say a chip starts at A0. Any small fixes would push the chip up to A1, A2 and so on.
Where as big bug fixes, would move the chip up an entire "letter". So it would jump to B0.
So for example the Q6600 went from B3 stepping to a G0 stepping.
Cool, thanks for clearing that up
Jon
Well i bought the other day and it came as a c0 stepping.
Mine too.
It looks like you'll have to hold off on your order until the E0 stepping becomes the standard.
I considered that but decided that I couldn't wait.
