aria and play are both stocking these solid state disks , does scan have any plans to do the same?

    Re: OCZ Vertex Series SSD

Well, both Play.com and Aria both have them listed, but aren't in stock, afaik Scan wait until they have the products until listing them. Just had a quick look at the other main sites and they don't have them listed either so I guess it's a matter of time and they will.

    It's 4.98*

I beg to differ. Scan listed the 55nm GTX 260 almost 2 weeks before it was even released, so they pick and choose to the circumstance i think.

Anyway, yes these drives do look sweet, near SLC performance according to previews.

    Re: OCZ Vertex Series SSD

Going to keep my eye open for these because from reviews I read my opinions of SSD from the last set of OCZ mixed.

These might just change my mind.

    Re: OCZ Vertex Series SSD

Scan, any news about the OCZ Apex series too?

AFAIK Apex series ships worldwide 17th Jan, and Vertex series ships 30th Jan.
Very interested in either, going to await reviews first though

    Sorry,

at the moment the system is still showing the date we were given in Jan and as yet we've had no update from the suppliers as to when these SSD drives will be arriving here.

    Best Regards,

    Re: OCZ Vertex Series SSD

Shame there's still no movement on these, I think I'll end up getting two of the solid series instead as I can't wait any longer.

One question, is there a way I can set up an alert via sms or email when a project is in stock? I've seen this option on another site, would be very handy in situations like this

    Cheers
    Steve

    Re: OCZ Vertex Series SSD

Other retailers are saying these should be in on the 20th (2 days!) - fingers crossed... This is one item I am waiting for before I start my new build, the reviews on the ocz forums are fantastic!

    Re: OCZ Vertex Series SSD

I bought a couple of solid series (see above) in the end and RAID-0'ed them together. Very happy with the performance, and £130 for 60GB of disk space, not bad at all.

    Re: OCZ Vertex Series SSD

Well they finally came into stock and this morning at approx 10am I ordered a 30gb for O/S and 60gb for games.

Of course, the infamous Scan stock system struck again.

When I placed the order both items were in stock, payment was authorised and expected delivery 2mrw.
From past experience I know with Scan you cannot be sure of getting your goods untill they are dispatched. So I phoned up cust service at 4:30pm to check and BAM i couldn't have the 30Gb as it was out of stock.

If I wanted the 60gb (and other bits and bobs i'd ordered aswell) by 2mrw i'd have to cancel the 30gb off the order - and reorder it seperatley. Thing is it had now gone up by £11

To cut a long story short and everyone will be sick of hearing about Scan pathetic stock status /ordering system......... the excellent Dawn in cust service got my 60gb drive and other goodies out to me for delivery 2mrw and I reordered the 30gb at the new higher price - but she said she will refund me the difference on the original price !!!

So disappointment but also glad i've got at least 1 of these baby's to play with 2mrw !!!

Good news in the end then. I'll take a look at a few reviews and see how it compares to the crappy old SSD in RAID0

I've also dealt with Dawn a couple of times, excellent service as you say
