    Query re returning damaged item

Hi, Please can someone help with a returns query:

Just received my most recent order, promptly delivered as usual (and much appreciated). Sadly one item was received damaged as the pictures below. Obviously I wish to return the item for a full refund.

I rang up and have been given an RMA number, but is this the right way to return it? Is it an RMA if I'm returning the product due to its damaged state under DSR? I've not taken the product out of its (damaged) packaging, nor even out of the delivery package. Will DPD be collecting the item? If not how do I send it back and who pays for the posting - presumably I don't have to pay for returning goods received damaged.

Lastly, the item was ordered via Today Only and came bundled with a free cable lock. I could have sworn I'd ordered the Logitech C210, but the invoice states I ordered the QuickCam VC (as shipped by Scan). Not sure what happened there. In any event, this is a moot point since the item is damaged anyway.

I was advised by the Scan operative I do not need to return the cable lock and that the return email would confirm this but it just seems to be an automated email and doesn't include this comment. Please can someone confirm in writing I do not need to return the cable lock - I'm happy to return it, or even better to keep it, but I need to know whether to include it in the return.

I can confirm you can either keep or return the free cable lock, either will not effect the return of the webcam.

    Thanks Wesley, much appreciated.

Re returning the webcam, how do I go about that? Is this actually an RMA + do DPD collect it?

Is that the state that your goods arrived in? It's well over a year since I bought anything, but it everything was covered with bubble wrap to survive being dropped out the back of a Hercules.

Re: Query re returning damaged item

There was a strip of green blister bags (the large sort, not bubble wrap) to fill the voids at the top of the box but individual items were not wrapped. When I've ordered HDD etc and more delicate components in the past these have been much better wrapped in bubble wrap etc as you say, but nothing in this order was particularly delicate except for the webcam and mouse which were in their own boxes to begin with. It puzzles me though that the webcam is so damaged - it presumably happened before shipping as the outer delivery box itself wasn't damaged like this. Everything else in there seems ok, and most parts were either in their own boxes or in blister packs so it would presumably take a lot of force to damage them through the box and/or air blister bags.
