The kill per minute checker just failed on Scan 4. It realised their was a cheater but didn't ban them. Player = Schokuhlade

    Re: Scan.co.uk Game Servers + TS3 Server

I was just watching the cycling then came back to see all the servers disconnecting everyone/lagging out. Exactly same issue again. Procon layers, rconNET and the servers themselves all check out. So its a network issue and confirmed by the monitor I setup: http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/s...2-08-2012.html

Either a switch is failing, a network link is overload or... we've annoyed a hacker and they are targeting a DDoS at the servers.

    Re: Scan.co.uk Game Servers + TS3 Server

Just checking the servers it looks like we broke the previous record for concurrent players hitting 370 of 384 earlier this evening. Not bad for the first few days after increasing the player count. Shame we don't get a Gold medal though

Performance looks smooth. Apart from Scan 4 is leaking memory like mad again. At 518MB of 600MB max right now. Going to have to restart that in the morning.

Still need to pin down those strange lag spikes too...

Also, look at only keeping GOOD rush maps in the rotation. I don't know anyone that likes Firestorm on Rush. It's an awful awful map on Rush. Same goes for Caspian.
Any action on this? Or did you want me to do it?

Caspian/Firestorm on Rush are servers killers. I'd remove them from all server maplists.

Need to use mapList.endRound <teamID> . But how to detect players suddenly leaving and how to detect what team is winning and should be declared winner?
A few ideas. But nothing solid yet. It's pretty hard to define a blaze in code. It'll probably be something like:-
    Code:
if (//check round has started - 60 sec?)

if (//server went from populated to empty - server.playercount ==0?)

    (//find winning team = win_team)

if (//first two statements are true then maplist.endround win_team)

Yup, it's a known problem. I'm working on trying to resolve it. Hence the _DEBUG log. But it's the first recorded instance where it has failed on the Scan servers. Hence why I've setup the _DEBUG .log(s).

600MB is way too low IMO. I'd speak to MP about raising that limit.

As for the strange lag spikes - is PB configured correctly? Too many PBSS being taken?

And I'd really re-think about having the high ping kicker. It kicks a lot of players. Especially as EU goes to sleep, it helps to have the other half of the world playing while EU sleeps.

Plunge right in. Second pair of eyes looking over the settings can only help

For Scan 4/5 I'd leave them in for the main map cycles. But yeah. In that BF3 Rush 32 map cycle for the bigger servers while they are filling I can see why its sensible to take them out.

I don't think you can change the limit. On restart the servers use around 280MBs of memory and about 325MB when a 64 player server is full. So there is plenty of extra there its just DICE refuse (can't?) to fix the memory leak thats been reported over and over to them.

PBSS are off unless they are manually taken. I'm still certain the issue is a multiplay network one since the other day 3 other server admins reported the same problem at the same time and all servers were in the same IP range.

You are meant to be able to schedule when the kicks happen. Unfortunately that feature of the plugin has been bugged for a few months now. I did use to only kick between 9am-11pm.

    Re: Scan.co.uk Game Servers + TS3 Server

Looks like Scan 6 is building a fanbase already. Has had people playing for the last 24 hours

New all time record for the Scan servers. 384/384! Not sure we can squeeze anymore out of the server now.

    Taken from #4.

I've disabled BF3 Chat, GUID and Stats Logger for now. And I'll do the same on the others if they have the same errors.

Edit* Looks the layer(s) themselves are at fault. As they aren't streaming to MetaBans, and Insane Limits is wigging out as well. Possible to restart all the layers ASAP?

    Re: Scan.co.uk Game Servers + TS3 Server

There have been several notices up the last few days saying they are updating the playerstats and have had to do some testing/fixing of MySQL. I guess you caught them rolling out the changes. Should be safe to keep the plugins enabled. I've restarted Procon to be sure.

EDIT: Oh yeah I still haven't re-enabled Spambot after the auto message I left on at the weekend. Thats my reminder. What prefix should we use on messages? Seems *msg bot* isn't universally understand as msg isn't commonly abbreviated outside the UK.
Just *bot* or nothing or "Auto-admin" like you use or is that a bit long?

    I only use [Auto-Admin] for ban/kick messages.

Otherwise I use nothing. To be honest, I'd prefer nothing. I think players realise they are automated messages and not admins talking to them.

Edit* Come to think of it. Just leave spambot disabled. I'll add the messages to the one on RCONnet.

Scratch that. I'll leave the RCONnet plugin as it is, it's a bit of mess and I don't want to break it by changing it.

Yes I really hope they change the formatting for the messages. Not easy to read at all when editing. I normally copy and paste it into notepad to edit and copy back.

Could really do with a further revamp of the messages to make them clearer and more concise. I did a few the other day and took out old messages. Still a lot of stuff to improve on.

What would be really cool is if you could copy settings between servers. Guess we'll have to wait to see what the next rconNET update will be.

I was going to suggest a revamp of the message. Probably cut down on a few of them. Given how bloody messy RCONnet is on the messages, I'm going to write something in Insane Limits. And use 6/7 as a testing ground for it.

Hell yes, that would be incredibly useful.

OT: What happened to the TNGC server mate?

    Re: Scan.co.uk Game Servers + TS3 Server

We decided not to renew the server for several reasons.

Some people were disappointed by Close Combat and the whole Premium situation.
There wasn't much interest in the continued maintaining of the servers. Seeding servers, updating bans, refilling after crashes/blaze disconnect (not that we'd had many the last few months).
Probably the most important thing though is Planetside 2. I think a lot of people are losing faith in EA/DICE to make the changes people want adding or fixing. Whereas SOE seems to be doing exactly what we want and delivering in constant updates to the beta.
Then of course we have the Scan servers to play on

Went out on a high. Had our best month at the end getting to 271st on GameTracker. So a good time to closedown

I think rconNET will add the ability to share settings between servers. Just playing around there I can see we can show copy/merge banlists between servers.

Hmmm PBBans is not streaming. I can't seem to check as my account is disabled now I'm no longer the admin of a streaming server

Singh.. you seen any configuration changes we need to make to the servers after the move?

Could just be the multiplay name servers haven't updated.

Yes their IPs have all changed. I'm not allowed to post them in public, if you run the Automated Hub Setup tool. It will refresh the configs with the new profiles.

I can't use the automated hub setup because of how multiplay's clanforge game server control panel works. Can you PM me the IP's? Thanks
