    GRR at DPD!

I was so pleased at the speedy dispatch. And it was so nice to track the van as it came towards our street - we even started watching out of the window..

Then I got a text: "No-one present to sign"

    What??

    "We've left a calling card"

*Goes to check* No.. you haven't.

"Click here to see a photo"

Ok.. what? the photo isn't of our house.. nor any neighbours houses.. it's a house style from an area 5 minutes away.

    Not impressed at all.

Trying to ring them (within a two minutes of getting the txt notice) and I get nothing but automated systems. No option to speak to someone.

Just wait until you pay for next day delivery and they dont deliver next day.

Next day actually means - we'll try to get it to you next day but it's not guarenteed.

    Same with all the couriers

Well that is effectively what happened. Next day was 'we'll send a driver next day but he'll only go to the vague area and not actually attempt to make a delivery or leave a card'. DPD have subsequently apologised via twitter since their tracking verified the driver never came to my house.

I make them refund the cost if they fail. Not because I'm tight (which I am), but out of sheer bloody-mindedness.

I had one send me a text saying "thank you for requesting to collect your parcel today from the central hub. If you have not collected by close of business, we will attempt delivery to your address". All of this was nonsense - they were running behind and had no hope completing their deliveries so they send out a bunch of texts, giving them an excuse not to deliver without adversely affecting their performance figures. That was DPD too, come to think of it.
