    Pg279q blb rma rejected!!!!!!

    Brought PG279Q monitor from scan.

    Has BLB.

    BLB not in product description.

    Tried to get RMA.

    RMA Tested as NOT FAULTY!!!!!

    Scan opinion.

"there is some backlight bleed on top right corner but its well within what I would consider is NFF. also checked by MichaelW.

We can confirm your returned goods have now been tested by our technicians and found to contain No Fault, please contact our returns staff for assistance."

Man. Is this even legal. I'm am basically being told, I've brought a faulty monitor with a defective panel causing Back Light Bleed, and I have to deal with it, because by opinion, it's not bad enough. How can a defect not be bad enough. It doesn't make sense. They don't even mention the bottom left when it is clearly there, only the top right.

Can't add pictures because forum won't let me.

People have said that their monitors are completely clear of BLB yet mine isn't and I've paid the same price for lesser quality.

Scan's terms and conditions say you have to pay if the item is "Classed" as non faulty when mine clearly is.

Can I have some help please, It would be much appreciated, as I don't know what to do.

    Re: Pg279q blb rma rejected!!!!!!

Yeah, see previous posts in this forum. BLB is a characteristic of poor quality monitors, not a fault. Hence you can return under consumer contract regulations if you're not happy with this characteristic, but not under sale of goods act as faulty. Any good retailer will allow you to switch return types.

    Re: Pg279q blb rma rejected!!!!!!

It's a lottery when it comes to buying IPS screens from the likes of Asus and Acer... Some are absolutely horrendous and make you wonder if they have any quality control at all! I have a Dell S2716DG monitor and it's fantastic, even if it does use a TN panel (looks fine when setup properly). No bleeding, no dead pixels, solid quality and reputable Dell customer service. The normal retail price is a bit much for a TN display imo, but I got it on offer . I'd recommend the Dell if you mainly use it for gaming, unless you really need an IPS screen for something like photography work.

Thanks for the advice and suggestions people, as I said before it's much appreciated .

And apologies Peter for not posting this in both general (For community advice) as well as this section.

I'm fairly new and the issue itself has motivated me to come here seeking advice and a potential resolution.

Apologies, thought that was specific to the after sales sub forum, not this general one. Perhaps copy the sticky in that section over here too?

    Re: Pg279q blb rma rejected!!!!!!

    Hi,

The monitor in question has been tested by 2 different members of staff as we appreciate BLB can often be subjective. Both staff members do not consider the BLB of the monitor in question to be excessive and well within what would be considered acceptable for a monitor of this type.

It should also be noted that we had indicated prior to return that on the evidence already provided before we had even issued an RMA we did not consider it as faulty but you were insistent it be returned and tested.

Unfortunately due to the length of time you contacted us following the delivery of the monitor originally it is not something we can take back as unwanted as the period for requesting a return as unwanted following delivery is 14 days.

    Re: Pg279q blb rma rejected!!!!!!

My Initial Reaction was Wait for it to go away as someone suggested on another forum but It didn't, by then it was already past the 14 days when I tried my luck and raised the RMA.

Going to try with Asus see if they can sort me out with a better panel or replacement.

Thanks for all the responses and advice.

And sorry scan for being a pest, felt a little betrayed and desperate.

Lesson learnt here, if you don't like it, send it back straight away, don't wait.
