Great idea but eventually people will realize what is going on and refuse trying to outbid each-other. Once auctions start ending at very low prices (unless the professional traiders keep them up) they will close. The are making however a fortune at the moment.
Has anyone else noticed that MADBID's auctions seem to start at hourly intervals, but at no time do they have a period when all autions have been won and there is nothing to bid on, it usually has six auctions, "live" at all times and a good percentage of those is only auctioning BIDS to be used on their site, so there basically selling nothing as you could bid on bids and still lose, what a scam!
watching tonight 6/2/09
Last Bidders:
6:52pm – millny
6:51pm – myattkov
6:51pm – millny
6:49pm – keithymyatt
6:49pm – millny
Anything strange about MYATTKOV and KEITHYMYATT.
Two very similar named bidders bidding on the same item, or is MYATT a more common name then i think!

Some good input there folks... Thanks for making my decision to - or not to register even more difficult!!! Heheh.
Think I'll give it a miss for now though!
Hanging around in a marquee...
Isn't that loitering with-in-tent?!?
Hi.
I have been examining some of the penny auctions sites for the last couple of weeks. And came across quite a different one called biddingmart. They are not launched yet, but what they are offering is quite different then others.
1. When you register now, you will get 10 free bid (they call it pre-launch) offer.
2. They are UK based (not like swoopo)
3. When you win, you get all the bids you used to win that auction back to your account!!! So actually you only pay for the actual auction price.
4. They also state 90% of their products are collectable from London same day the auction is finalised. So, you don't even need to wait for delivery.
Has anyone heard about these people?
Just search "biddingmart" on google.
Hi guys,
I did check out madbid and swoopo but like others have correctly pointed out: there are so many people bidding for the items that it is quite unlikely that you will win anything.
However, I came across another site called psychoauction.com. This site has a probability factor on each of the auctions i.e shows you how likely you are to win each item, which I thought was a pretty clever idea. It shows you the probability factor for a split second if you have not bought any bids and will show you the probability, which changes based on a number of factors (not just population). Now you know why i think it is clever!
The items on madbid are also quite standard. A friend of mine suggested this website whilst I was looking michael jackson tickets. This site also has rugby tickets, I emailed the owner to find out what else will be selling and he mentioned all sorts including designer bags! I'm sold.
All said, I did sign up. I managed to win 3 bids for 39p! Would appreciate thoughts....
My thoughts are spam?
You've got to admire the marketing for this type of site:
1) search for competitors on google.
2) When forums posts mentioning them are found, join and post own site.
I've reported several of these as SPAM!!
I’ve used madbid and Swoopo in the past but there are so many using it now it is SO hard to win, bidding against people from other countries as well. I found another one that is launching soon called doobids. I’d be surprised if anyone knows about it because I have not seen them advertising anywhere yet. They are getting around Facebook as a fan page but they seem a bit different from the others though because they have put extra features on it making the whole process of bidding slightly more transparent, doesn’t look as much like a scam! Theres a security certificate as well which is really important for secure transactions. UK company registered and VAT registered. Might be worth a punt for those that care.
Closed by me cos it sucks!
