    Dell G2410 opinions?

Anyone got the G2410 LED Backlit screen from Dell? Is it any good? worth paying the extra from the standard TN screens? I understand it's got a TN Panel still, so if you've got any suggesions on a non-TN screen that would be great! Looking to spend in the £200-300 region!

    Many thanks

The general consensus is that it's not that much better than a standard TN screen.

What will you be using the monitor for may I ask?

It appears the cheapest non-TN 24" monitor costs no less that £400 atm. Examples of the most popular ones. with the type of panel technology after the /.

    HP LP2475w / S-IPS | Review1 | Review2
    Nec 24WMGX3 / AMVA | Review1 | Review2

But if you don't mind 22", then you can get a Dell 2209WA / E-IPS screen for under ~£200 from Scan, eBuyer, Novatech & a few others.

    Re: Dell G2410 opinions?

Using it for Web Design, so colour representation is quite important.. which is why I thought the LED backlit screen may be an option.

I've been looking at the Dell 22" ideally I did want a higher resolution than what that supports, so I guess I'll have to consider my options and possibly bite the bullet and go for a £400+ IPS screen. There seems to be such a gap in the market for IPS screens at a cheaper range!

Thanks for all your input, crossbow!

    It's not S-IPS, it's e-IPS

Hence the non IPS like price tag, but IPS panels are coming down in price now

Any difference between E-IPS and S-IPS?

    Better / worse?

    According to wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TFT_LCD#IPS
Enhanced IPS [E-IPS] (2009) A low-cost AS-IPS display by lowering the aperture ratio to increased transmittance which result some glowing at the angle, lower color gamut and contrast ratio.
but quite honestly, all i know is that they are cheaper to produce...

    someone else will know though

    Re: Dell G2410 opinions?

FWIW... I used to work at an ad agency and a few guys their used PVA monitors like the 2408WFP. They swore that it was superior and did the full colour calibration thing. Being a mere techie I've got a Dell S2409W at home which was £200 - bargain.

At work though we've got dual Dell 2408s and all we run on them is terminal, Firefox and a Java development environment - it's enough to make a graphic designer weep

One of my co-workers has this. He says it's 'average'.
