Should I Be Worrying? Eclipse Computers

Well I finally got round to ordering some new PC Components for a silent setup but ordered from 3 company's it was all going to be from scan but they has some items out of stock I chose to order from Scan and yoyotech as I have had dealing with both and are always A+

But the watercooling system the Alphacool Complete Retail Kit 240 scan didnt stock which is unfortunate they only stock the 120 version not sure why? Anyway I ordered the Alphacool system from Eclipse Computers I have never used them before and did not run a check on their business and now I am a little worried.

Running a quick check on google revealed a not so good company frequently out of stock with items with delayed if any refunds!

I ordered 00:05 Saturday morning I just hope I receive my item(s) from them now can anyone give me an idea on what the company is like it would be nice to have some up to date comments on them!

Oh my order can be viewed here:

    Cheers!

Which eclipse computers? There is one in sussex and one near bradford i think. One is good and one is not so good. Ive seen things saying not to confuse them because one is giving a bad rep to the other.

A fairly large silver building with a logo similar to the one shown on this site. http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/help.aspx?type=2

Yep the one in Coventry I couldn't find anywhere else that sells the Alphacool Complete Retail Kit with the 240 radiator I could only find it at eclipse computers at a solid £135 which isn't bad I only wish Scan stocked it! Anyone else know where else I can purchase it if my order falls through with Eclipse? Its the kit with CPU, GPU and NB water blocks and a 240mm radiator!

    Cheers

well got email updates from scan and yoyotech but not eclipse thought I would sent them an email 2 in the end but got no response hopefully it will be here tomorrow or wednesday assuming it will be dispatched today but im not holding my hopes.

I need this waterkit so I can piece together the rest of my other orders and to put a review of it on my site looks like thats not going to happen for a while.

Yes i know i might be over reacting but looking at all the bad comments I cant help it but be worried

Eclipse are dire for after sales - but do tend to send stuff - basically you will get your stuff - check it carefully - if as should be then great - any future warranty repairs etc - try to deal with manufacturer direct.!

I've only ever bought over-the-counter from Eclipse, as I live close by, and have had good customer service from them when an item has been faulty, again only face-to-face however, I'm not in a position to reccommend buying online from them though.

    Not so Good

    Hi,

Made the mistake of buying a complete PC from these guys at the end of last year for a friend of mine who is a novice. They seemed to offer a good deal, initially promised delivery in 10 days, after 7 days received an e-mail stating that due to an unexpected volume of orders the maching would be delayed another 14 days, decided to wait, after 16 days and still no PC I phoned them up and was promised the machine later that week, it duly turned up on a Friday afternoon and was DOA. I phoned them up that afternoon and was told there was no one there to help, to call back Monday. After waiting all weekend I called on Monday, was kept waiting on the phone almost 30 minutes, then after running through some basic diagnostics stuff was told the whole machine would have to be returned, would need to be checked (which would take upto 14 days) and only then would the machine be repaired or replaced. Needless to say, I hit the roof, demanded I speak to a manager immediately, and being lied to that no manager was available, after threatning to contact their local trading standards office, they miraculously found a manager, who told me I was being unreasonable expecting my machine to be proritised over others. After a protracted conversation where I explained their staffing problems were not my problem, my solicitors and the trading standards were, however, their problem, they managed to prioritise my machine and get it turned around in 5 days.

Thankfully the machine eventually worked, but their service department is an absolute joke, it's almost as bad as Sky, I will NEVER do business with this company again for any reason.

    Deal with at your peril!

    Dave

I ordered once from them and the goods arrived reasonably quickly. I'm sure they'll send you what you ordered. They are atleast a genuine shop. Perhaps not the best but these are the risk one takes when bargain hunting.

I ordered from the ones in Coventry a few years ago and I would NEVER EVER order from them again, biggest bunch of cowboys under the sun imo. Took over two weeks to send my order and there was a whole load of things wrong.

    Ordered the following:

AMD CPU - Processor pins were bent
200 Jewel Case CDRs - 9 in 10 were faulty and wouldn't write
Computer Case - Front button was broken

Basically 90% of the order was broken/DOA. Wouldn't return phone calls/emails and in the end I had to drive up to Coventry from London because it would have cost a fortune to send back all the CDRs etc and they wouldn't authorise a return. Had to give them some grief in person before they refunded my money.

To be honest, I'm amazed they're still in business.

I have a love/hate relationship with Eclipse in Coventry. They do have some great prices and are very convenient. The sales team are nice people and do try hard given how busy they can get.

If you plan on going to visit the store, make sure you take a toilet break at home before you leave as it can be notoriously busy at the counters.

I once missed my birthday* whilst waiting in the line to be served - and you may find that the item you went in to purchase is discontinued by the time you get to the front of the queue LOL

My advice - check the item is in stock by calling before you set out.

    Regards, LJ
