Duuude ... we have to meet up for some gosip-exchange. Have seen that you're in London too.
I live in Perivale ... where are you ?

I think I'll go for the Wolfdale E8400 now. Can't wait until middle / end of March for the Yorkfield Q9450 ... cause have waited too long now.
Besides this, I might get the E8400 now and the Q9450 later too. Will have to use the Wolfdale as a keyring then

Their prices are competitive. But the forums are racist and homophobic. This is well documented and search their own forums for evidence! Spie is or was a senior member of staff and would ban people for raising their concerns!
As for customer service very poor. I had to wait a number of months to get my card refunded. I try to use Scan or another retailer when I can.
As for new ownership yes it was a new MD.

Spie was (and is, AFAIK) the forum administrator and a joint owner of the company that trades as OcUK. He then bought out the other partner to become (as I understand it) joint owner and MD.

As for banning people for raising their concerns, it was made clear, again and again and again, that shop matters weren't to be discussed on the forums. It's also been in their forum rules for a VERY long time. Yet, many people would start complaining about shop matters on the forum. Yes, some people were banned for it. Others were warned. As often as not, those banned had either done it repeatedly or refused to heed warnings. In any event, it was a rule break.

And I dare say I've got a far better understanding of these events than most members here, as I spend a couple of years as a forum Mod at OcUK and saw both sides of events ..... and so was the owner of HEXUS, and some other well-known and well-respected HEXUS members.

As it happens, I don't agree with the policy of not discussing shop matters on the forum. Personally, I feel that the Scan approach works far better. But it's Spie's forum, his business and his decision as to whether he allows it or not. And as it's forum rules, it's forum rules.

As for being racist, I don't know. I do know that it's an allegation that was raised more than once while I was there, including against me, and at least as far as that goes, it was cobblers then and, for all i know, still is in relation to the forum. There were certainly discussions about immigration policy and sending illegal immigrants back and deporting failed asylum seekers. But that's a political view, not a racial one.

There were also discussions about BNP policy and how some of what they say stand for makes sense. But those same discussions were tempered with the caveat that what the BNP say they stand for, however plausible it seems, is often considered to be a publicly acceptable and plausible façade behind which a nasty racist agenda lurks. I know that point was made because I, for one, made it more than once.

In any event, allegations about racism are to stop. They are potentially defamatory, and aren't something that is to be discussed here.

If that continues, this thread will be deleted.

He is right, the forums could be closed if that was true. I only heard it anyway, I really don't know anything about it and was stirring the poo more than anything

This is not a matter where someone with a whole 55 posts tells a forum admin what to do. It is a serious matter, and could have far-reaching consequences. We are here to look after the forum's best interests, and remarks like that are not appreciated.

i live in the NW in cricklewood, but thats OT.

some prices in OcUK are mad, but thier own brand OcUK stuff is superb, price cant be beaten norally (i mean compared to toehr brands across other sites, aka i think the OcUK 24" is the cheapest non TN 24" around, as with the GTX IICR)

some praise there, but then shipping and CS come into play....

TBH, most of the people ont he forum are intelligible and are nice, albeit a little mad when it comes to muslims

    and

    @ Saracen

i think he was joking, and failed at putting a smiley aka

    Cricklewood ?!?

Sometimes I go to Staples Corner for shopping at Lidel and Wing Yip.
And Chiquito is my favourite restaurant, YAY !

Yeah alright, let's stay on topic ... of course I didn't mean to be rude but I have to know first whom I can mess with - now I know at least whom to be careful with.
But I'm still trying to figure what the number of postings has to do with anything, hmmm

Anyway ... having gossipt so much about overclockers, I must admit the positive sides too:

    1. the site layout is the best of all online-retailers ... logical & intuitive !
    2. the spectrum of components is huge ... their program is bigger than anyone elses
    3. the delivery cost is not overpriced in my eyes ... despite that many people do complain
    4. and there are evidently customers who are very satisfied with them ... frequently, not only once or twice

Ergo: when I have cooled down a bit more ... I might even give them a chance and order something

    Re: OCUK - a joke!

    {New boy delurking alert}

I used OCUK many years ago and never had ny problems and the forums are a useful resource.

Ordered a case and 2 filters on Tuesday. Items were showing in stock, order accepted , then emails confirming packing and dispatching of both items. Tracking at Courier confirmed, and even the correct weight was shown.

The PC is used a lot, so to keep downtime to a minimum, I strip out the old case ready for delivery.

Go to depot to collect last night and am given a a very small box weighing nothing, but the label shows a weight of 10Kg. Couriers are adamant that's all they have.

The box just has the fan fiters and an invoice, with the case noted as "these parts to ship separately-do not pick". Full payment has been taken.

My on line account shows the order as having been completed!

I send a web note to them, and phone them this morning. They apologise, and suggest it is still in the warehouse and all that happened was they couldn't find the case in the warehouse (?) They said they would reopen the order and push it through (that's nice of them ) . They have even offered to refund the Shipping charges. OK, but I just want/need the case.

I was told I would get an email to confirm everything was moving again and that I would be contacted this morning if there was a problem. So far, I can only see that my order has been reinstated.

So, OK, someone slipped up. Mistakes happen. If they fix it today so I have the case tomorrow, then no problem. In fact, I'd say it's a point in their favour.

If it's not sorted or, say, they have none in stock and didn't at the time, then it's a rather poor show, especially when you rely on clause 2.2 of their ToS.

I'll come back when I get some news. Particularly, to be fair to them, I will post if it's resolved

I was promised they would call this morning "if there was a problem" with sending the case today.

No call, but I phoned them to be told there was an error in the stock system and they don't have the case after all .

    Order cancelled.

    Not good

@ Ade ... I would have sent you a PM about something I cannot say in the public ... but you haven't got any contact details ?!

How about meeting at midnight at the old oak, next to the church ?
Make sure you have a fake beard and sunglasses. You can recognize me cause I will wear a brown jumper with purple stripes and white addidas trainers, size 7.

    The password is HALELLUJA ... I reapeat: H A L E L L U J A !
Don't tell anybody, ok ... otherwise I will have to report you at the British Heart Foundation.

Not sure if they'll care but as you can see I try everything to make a fool of myself ... successfully

If that doesn't work out ... let me send you a SMS via Blackberry, encrypted of course.
