its the same as trading it a game or something to game or gamestation etc. Just had it to them saying you want to trade it in(you can check prices online btw) remember though you need to be 16/17 or 18+ to get cash, i dont know for sure as each person in my area says different(staff that is) some say 16 some say 18 lol. I used them before, good trade in prices tbh and its not to bad in there.

    Look at my ratings

wheres the nearest one ot you oilsheikh? i know theres one in barking but not been there yet, the one near oxford circus, usually never has money but i gave in loads of stuff to them, about 30 DVD's and a HD-DVD player.

prices are usually better than selling 2nd hand to someone but alot of effort, youll also need the usual ID before you can get cash (OR trade IIRC)

The process was straightforward for me. Went into their store and sked them how much I would get for a couple of games, they give you quotes for cash price and trade price. I opted for the trade price (get credit receipt which lasts a year to spend in their stores).
Filled in some quick details, showed them drivers license they create your account and give you a card. all done. I think with hardware it'll take a little longer as they would need to test it first.

I wasn't aware that they had one in Barking. I know about the Oxford Street one , Tottenham Court Road.

I have heard that if you are selling them over £100 of stuff, they send a courier at their own expense to collect items from you. Is this true?

    Re: Cex

Watch out at the moment. Although cex is run as a franchise, there have been a build up of problems regarding to people selling to cex through their main (online) office.

People haven't been paid, payments have been delayed, cheques have arrived and have since bounced. People haven't been able to contact customer service via email or phone.

I believe wages to the staff have been delayed, and many stores have been turning away people who want to sell their items saying they do not have enough cash...

So be careful, this is only what I have read on other forums, and has only been building up recently, so read this as pure speculation, but my advice is approach with caution

I want ca$h for what I am going to sell.

I have heard that they usually run out of ca$h and that the best time to get ca$h is early mornings.

So, should I leave my item with them on a previous day's evening so that they have time to test it and come back next day early morning?

I got rid of my old 360 there, they tested it in front of me and handed over the moolah within about 10 mins, so overnight is overkill.

mind you watch out, the sods always try to 'discount' any electrical they get (They took my girlfriends lil bro's slim PSP virtually brand new and only offered discounted price, was in mint condition and they couldn't say why it was discounted, they had it in window non-discounted day after)

Got my own back traded in a scrached cod 4 that didn't play ambush with them for £25 and bought a new one day later from game for same (after points reward reapage)

As with any trade in store. You could sell for more money if you took the time to sell yourself.

Pretty good for getting rid of those things you will never sell on their own. i.e all the really old stuff

CEX are great... I use them all the time but not for computer related bits... I use them mainly for DVD's as their prices are too high for anything else
