| Hi guys, I sold my Macbook Pro 17" notebook computer today for £300. I'm looking at getting a newer windows based laptop to replace it and have been looking at the various ones Dell have to offer. The laptop I have made through the Dell UK website is as follows: Components Intel® Pentium® Processor T4200 (2.0GHz, 800MHz, 1MB cache) Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium SP1 (64 BIT) - English Microsoft® Works 9.0 / English - (Does not include Microsoft® Word) 1 Year Limited Warranty - Collect & Return 15.6in Widescreen High Definition (1366x768) WLED with TrueLife 4096MB 800MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x2048] 250GB (5,400rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive 512MB ATI Mobility RADEON HD 4570 Fixed Internal DVD+/-RW Slot Load Drive including Software Primary 6-cell 56 WHr Lithium Ion battery Dell Wireless 1510 Half Mini Card (802.11n) No Bluetooth Upgrade 2.0 Mega pixel Integrated Web Camera Internal UK/Irish Qwerty Backlit Keyboard Facial recognition software Ruby Red with Microsatin Finish I intend to use the laptop mainly for browsing the web, playing music, using MSN/Skype and the occasional bit of gaming (nothing too heavy the likes of WoW etc). The above laptop comes in at £529.01 however I'm unsure on the processor. I can upgrade from Intel® Pentium® Processor T4200 to an Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T6500 for £70. What I really want to know is, is this upgrade worth the hefty additional £70 price tag or am I going to see little to no difference in the tasks I want to perform with the differences between the two processors? (I've tried googling for comparisons between the two but cant find anything other than places trying to sell one to me) Hopefully you guys can help as the offer finishes in 4 hours!! Thanks, |

Looks fine to me but likely your macbook pro with a few upgades would have been a better spec than that machine Originally Posted by Jay Beginners guide to raid Beginners guide to raid post edition Hexus.Social - FAQ Buy my stuff

The Macbook Pro was a 2.16ghz, 1gb RAM and I can't remember the graphics card so a newer laptop should be able to beat it spec for spec quite easily. |

| Re: Looking to buy a new laptop, need advice offer expires in 4 hours! I actually took delivery of an inspiron with that cpu in it today... havent really tried to do anything intensive with it, but it seems to handle vista without any trouble and there was no noticeable slow down on anything with a few things open... eg, installing office while browsing the internet etc... |

| Re: Looking to buy a new laptop, need advice offer expires in 4 hours! Thanks for the replies guys, if your inspiron is managing with the same processor as the one I've listed here I think I'll be saving myself the £70 and going ahead with what I've already chosen |

Got my Studio 17 from there & it was pritty much brand new...i never did figure out why it was a refurb! |
