| 13" HD LCD TV need advice Hi Guys, Im looking at buying myself a HD LCD TV, I am looking at spending around 300-400 pound. What im looking for in a TV is 1024p , 1-2 scarts, PC input. I will use the TV a lot (xbox, gamecube, movies via pc) so I want one that has a stunning display. Two brands I have been looking at are LG and Samsung. Ive seen this 32" samsung on scan.co.uk which looks really nice http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/32-Sa...P-6ms-Freeview What do you guys suggest and think? |

I'm still using it from only a few inches, though. 1080p on a 13" TV? You had me wondering for a moment, there.
Anyway, I've no specific guidance on what TV to get, but do make sure that you get one that can map pixels on a 1:1 basis, with none of that wanky overscanning or underscanning or processing bollocks applied. TVs seem to have some obsessive complusion towards applying their own processing to the signal, which usually involves all sorts of unwanted rubbish, including blowing the picture up, rescaling or resizing it, applying sharpening (as if that's needed on a digital signal), applying dynamic contrast, and other things that serve only to make things look awful. Via VGA, my Samsung LE40 doesn't do any of that, but via HDMI, it looks hideous as the input image is forced to just 720p then rescaled up to 768p and sharpened and mangled and everything. My Technika did the same hting on both 720p and 1080p, shortly before going back for a refund. Anyway, it's something you really have to ask about before you comit to a TV, although there is a list somewhere on the AV Forums that'll offer some guidance. |

| Re: 13" HD LCD TV need advice Why bother with an LG LH3000 when you can pick up a Samsung 32-530 (1080p / 50:0001) for £399 @ Currys? Much better for gaming than the LG and invariably built better with (imho) better screen clarity. Ben |
