Did you tell them what your costs were? If so, tell them you want your costs reimbursed ... the mistake, after all, was theirs if they supplied goods you didn't order. If they supplied items you didn't order by mistake, then they're in breach of contract and the liability is theirs. if, by some remote and unlikely chance, they supplied Postman Pat on purpose, then by law, you just get to keep unsolicited goods. Either way, the problem is theirs.

Of course, the easy way to deal with that problem would have been to use the Distance Selling Regs to cancel the order and tell them to collect. As they supplied alternate goods that weren't ordered, they get to pay either for your return shipping costs, or the cost of collection. That won't help you now, of course, but it's worth remembering for next time.

My issue with delivery is that I have a job. Which is why I have money to buy things with but no time to go places to buy them.

Yet most couriers assume I don't and only deliver in working hours.

Any company that could give me a guaranteed 2 hour slot like my supermarket can would instantly grab all my business.

Check out Ebuyer and maybe Novatech, they have early delivery slot times, but at a cost...

Scan have normal delivery prices for Saturdays now too, like £6-7

Can't you get items delivered to your work? I do quite regularly, the added bonus is couriers always turn up in the morning, where as delivering to my residential address i could sit in all day, sometimes it wouldn't arrive, so i guess they treat business to business with priority, even though i secretly know its business to consumer delivered to my place of work

Yes, some of the bigger names will, so for now I store them up and go for a Saturday delivery. But I'd rather wait in on a Tuesday

I just don't really have an address to deliver to.

Plus it would look a bit wierd when i have no need to have anything delivered.

Same where I work, yet that doesn't stop the bosses having their stuff delivered there !

That said if RM special delivery is an option and isn't much more expensive than CityLink or DPD delivering then I'll take that. The sorting office is only a 15 minute walk away. If I do miss it I can either walk down, or if feeling really lazy get my Mum to do it for me and have the stuff the next day.

That said DPD and Citylink have been very good to me, the CityLink driver if I'm not in will come back a few hours later, the DPD driver leaves my stuff if not in with the lady over the road

It's probably worth checking where the depots are and collecting from there outside work hours. Also note that Royal Mail permit redelivery to any post office in the delivery region (what this covers is not immediately obvious : you have to check their website) at a small cost.

I ordered from CCL last week and had to collect from the citylink depot - wasn't really a problem as it was open until 8pm (obviously this requires having a car..)
