Exchanging spare copies of Windows 7?

As someone who has 6 copies of Windows 7 on order at various etailers....I'm bound to have a few spare at the pre-order price...

Is there a way for me and any other Hexus user who has spare copies to exchange these without making a profit?

In particular I have Windows 7 Pro on order @ £90 which will be well below the offer price.

Just a thought....and I won't be taking any offers via PM!!!

(If this is OK I probably won't have any version of Home available, however for the sake of £10 price difference I'd just order one from Amazon...)

I'll ask the powers that be

As far as I know, as long as they're retail copies & purchased by yourself, there should be no issues.

    But I've asked for clarification

I'll be interested myself...as I've just had a look at PC World and they now have the 'upgrade' version of Home 7 for about £80 and the 'full' version for £180

Why would you preorder more than your required number of licenses?

    Situations change

He may have ordered extra in lieu of using them on other machines that have since vacated the premises.

Could be any number of feasible situations

It was during the Pre order frenzy

    I got :
    Amazon Professional £90
    Ebuyer Professional £90
    Ebuyer Professional £90
    Ebuyer Home £50
    PC World Home £45

I wasn't convinced that ebuyer would honour so I grabbed a few....

I probably only need 2-3....and I got an upgrade on a Dell I bought....

So nowt sinister, just compulsive :-)

So the limit of 3 per household or whatever just kind of went over your head?

Actually it was fairly clear you were allowed 3 of EACH VERSION and probably meant per household but in reality most stores probably wouldn't have honoured more than 3 of each version but MS are unlikely to bother checking various orders across various stores and stop you getting more than 3 of each.

But even by their rules, 6 copies is fine. I was very very tempted to do the same in so much as get 3 at two places to make sure, or try to make sure I definately get at least 3 copies for the families computers. In the end I think I only got 3 copies, only home as professional really offers nothing extra.

I didn't see that and frankly when buying from PC World and EBuyer I wouldn't trust them to organise a pee up in brewery

Having said that Home is back on Amazon @ £65

I am the only one who did a grab :-)

I doubt my copies fo Home 7 will be going spare....having said that once you figure on waiting a week for me to post and the fact it's only £15 more expensive at Amazon and probably net £10 after postage....

I think that it's only those who desire the Professional edition who would benefit....

How much do you think it will cost after the pre-order time?

Well Windows Home on Pre-order is currently

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (PC) - £64.98 from Amazon

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, Upgrade Edition (PC DVD) - £76.99 from Amazon

I'm guessing the difference is that the cheaper option will have to be a clean install?

There was a good article on pricing and version on Hexus a little while ago, I expect therer will be an update on this again soon.
