    Anykind of laptop for around £200.

    That is cheap netbook territory, not proper laptop, tell your mate to make his mind up about what he wants and save some more money

    Agreed, try eBay. Either that, or big pockets are also good for second hand but still good laptops. You can usually find some sort of centrino laptop with an optical drive for under £200
