I just ordered one - NO affiliation with HP or any vendors - just a nerd who likes bargains.

A dual core Athlon 1.3GHz (so can do H/W virtualisation, better than Atom performance) based micro server, with 4 drive bays, apparently nearly silent...

I found using Google shopping the basic config for £199.99 and if invoiced before end of Feb then HP will give you £100 cashback...

Upgrade with any DDR3 RAM and regular 3.5" drives, server includes a full set of drive trays. I reckon that's full of win for a home server, NAS or test box.

The offer is only valid for the 250GB model it seems (250 quid)...

The 160GB can be purchased for £199 inc P&P BUT the 250GB version which is no different at all apart from the harddrive is priced at £250 from the same retailer.

£50 in difference which effectively buys you 90GB of storage is ridiculous.

This server appears to be the updated version somehow - PSU is 150W instead of 200W so this clearly changed.

Wasn't sure if naming a store was against the rules or not...?

I was shopping around for nice NAS cases, or eSATA DAS boxes for expanding storage on current ITX server box, saw this and thought it's not much more money than the DAS boxes I saw. After I saw the N36 I was going to buy one anyway, so even if HP don't cough up I won't be too upset... but the place I bought it said on the phone the 160GB model I bought qualified for the offer.

200W seems an overkill PSU for this though gotta say - 4 drives and a low power platform, 50-60W at most surely... suppose it keeps it cool and efficient.

well the 130Ghz processor sounds tempting

still want one of these, but also still not sure what to do with it - got a 2.5Ghz Core 2 Celeron handling the home server / torrents / streaming / game servers, and p4 dell optiplex SFF doing the smoothwall - now i know these couldn't keep up with what is demanded of the home server, and i know im going to see zip performance increase for the smoothwall, so can anyone come up with a suitably interesting 3rd PC to have lying about 24/7? i need a reason!

Home server backup? Thats what mine is for, a cheap 4 bay nas unit

Err, what about a PBX and/or an OpenVPN endpoint? Or as Biscuit, a backup - you can never have too many file servers!
Actually, since you're using a not-so-power-frugal P4 system as your Smoothwall box, you could use this as a replacement and save money in the long run.
