    Affiliate Links - HEXUS.net Announcement - UPDATED 21st May 2005

HEXUS.net has launched a new program of providing affiliate links on the pages of the HEXUS forums for offers that the staff of HEXUS.net deem to be appropriate for the users.

As a result of this we have decided that the posting of Affiliate links by members in either thier posts and/or signatures is now classed as against the usage rules of HEXUS.net UNLESS the affiliate link has come from the master list or from HEXUS provided affiliate link systems.

We reserve the right to edit any posted bargain on these forums to add in the affiliate link for HEXUS.net should you have posted and not included a link that HEXUS has available.

If anyone is found to be purposely placing posts on the HEXUS.net forum with affiliate links for their own gain then they will certainly hear from the staff about it and it will be at our discretion as to whether you continue to receive access to the Bargain Hunt forum.

I hope that you can understand the reasoning behind the decision to do this and I would kindly ask that you abide by the above rules. By helping us do this you are helping HEXUS to exist, so please, do your bit!

If you have any questions or concerns, or if you want to let me know of a bargain then please drop me a PM, Im around most of the day....

    Regards m@

How about adding a sticky with affiliate links to all the stores so that people who wish to support Hexus can click through them before ordering anything from that store ?

That way you get additional income from any orders through the links rather than just ones from bargains posted.

I for one wouldnt mind clicking through those links before ordering.

Well the list of stores is already there in "UK Suppliers" , just add affiliate links to those

    Just a suggestion:

With the new policy of changing/diverting links though affiliates, would it be possible
to include the original link on the side, or at least ensure the site name is mentioned.

I like to know where I`m going before I click!

We are going to be providing a full list amongst other items to allow people to support HEXUS in anyway they can, I should have this up by the weekend.

We will be providing affiliate links where possible on the suppliers listings.

Changing of links will now be adjusted to show the site the link goes to, even if its been edited with an affiliate link.

Thanks for your constructive feedback folks!

Why would we do this? The forum has to be self sufficient.

Yes I did... I am just saying - people can post open links we will turn them in to affiliate links I don't understand the issue? It has been a free ride so far - this is just so the forums can make some revenue.

    And it still will be!

If a program blocks links like that then either add them as 'safe' if you can, or go there the old fashioned way via the address bar or google.

if you choose to block them, (why I don't know as all it does is hurt the people who provide the websites you visit in general) then you will have to right click on the links, copy shortcut, paste the link in a new window and take off the affiliate link.
