    s939 pci-x motherboard sources ?

    Howdy,

Been searching for a little while without much success.

Plenty of Xeon and s940 Opteron boards out there with pci-x.

Anyone help with moels & sources for these suckers.

Also keen on suppliers that might build decent workstation/servers using the above
    (ie: with high-end X2 or dual-core s939 Opterons)

Untrue, in the server market people refuse to go PCIe because there is no server-class cards on PCIe, except Broadcom Lan, Areca/HPT/Promise SATA Raid cards.

And you know you can't move a raid array on another card. There's simply no way to move stuff onto PCIe. It is only good for NEW server installation, but still it is not cost effective (You can get cheap $100 8 ports SATA2 card on PCI-X but it cost at least $300 for a 8 port SATA2 card on PCIe.

I would rather say PCIe is stuck in server market.

I wish there is PCI-X on 939 too since I could use good raid card to hold my harddrives and faster interconnect with my other rigs.

The current way to get it is to use a Dual Opteron motherboard. There are loads of choices with PCI-X only but there are a few varients with both PCI-X and PCIe. Though you need to use ECC Registered ram and you can't overclock.

There should be PCIe to PCI-X bridges out there but there is no way to obtain a finished product. Basically its just paper launch.
