FSP350-60PN: Flash, crackle, bang & smoke.

Yep, me thinks there is a prob with my PSU.

My PC wouldn't switch on yesterday. Switched the on/off on the PSU, off and then on again, and there was a flash of light from the psu, cracking and a small bang, followed by smoke.

I hope it hasn't fried my mobo or the bits and pieces inside!! :surprised:

Anyway, what do i do. Haven't had it long....about 6 months. Was perfect before that.

GGRRR!! Just when i need my pc most!! I've finally migrated to 24MB BeThere!!!

What do i do??

whats the spec of your machine? as this will determine the power of the PSU, I went with a Tagen 520W one.

Hi there,

Can you provide the spec of your system?

Did you upgrade anything lately? We don't really understand your saying "I've finally migrated to 24MB BeThere!!!"?

We need more info before making any judgement.

Thanks

Hi All,

My machine is:

Athlon 3000+
MSI K8N Neo Platinum NF3
1.5GB Ram (3x512 DDR3200)
2x Seagate 160GB SATA
2 PCI cards
1 AGP Radeon 9550
3 USB devices

The pc just wouldn't switch on. Then when i turned the psu off and then on again triggered the prob.

Never overclocked (cos i dont know how to). Only use it for web, music and word.

Nothing upgraded....never had a prob with the PSU until now.
"I've finally migrated to 24MB BeThere!!!"?
Means that my isp just migrated to another, giving me 24MB Broadband. Nowt to do with the pc...the psu blow up before i could attempt to connect the modem to the pc!!

Cheers all.

Hi

Based on your info above, we can't figure out why the PSU failed since it was working okay for 6 months and you didn't upgrade the system.

The best thing to do is to get the faulty PSU back to our head office for further investigation. Would you please confirm which country you are based? If you are in UK, we can swap you another unit first. Otherwise, I will get my colleague in local branch office to follow up.

Please advise. Thanks.
