What do we think of Twinmos?

Right, its upgrade time for me, and to go with my NF7-S v2 and 2500+, i need some ram. Ive got £200 in total, so about £60 to spend on the Ram.

Ive seen 512 PC3200 Twinmos for £56, and this looks like the most, half-decent ram i can get. Is Twinmos actually anygood? It's got to be better than generic stuff, but what are the current views on it?

Been running some Twinmos stuff in my shuttle 24/7 for 6months+

PC2700 running at 147FSB, can't go higher coz onboard snd craps out.

Overall I'm pleased and it was cheaper than the rest at the time

Also been using TwinMOS w/Winbond chips for sometime now. Great RAM I have 3200 and it's been to 217FSB stable with no problems, but that's as high as the MB would go.

I've been using 2x256MB PC3200 w/Winbond sticks in my NF7-S v1 board for some months underclocked to be synchronous w/the 166/333 FSB of my AthlonXP, but with the timings tightened lots and have no complaints.

My mtec based twinmoss didn't do the SPD speed at any volts even @ 3.3vdimm The old winbond stuff was awesome used BH-5 chips and blew everything else away in the price range and above Mushkin are raking it in on the basis of being the only ones with BH-5 chips left

Yeah, I just bought 512meg of Twinmos 3200 (without the Winbond chips), and I'm pleased with it. Runs good timings, no problems at all, and it was the cheapest branded stuff I could find.

Have Twinmos w/Winbond in two systems, 1 x 512 & 2 x 256. Never had any problems, have mildly overclocked both systems. Good price. Recommended.

    twin

    Guys,

I need to know if the following TwinMOS will be compatible with the Shuttle SN85G4 I have bought.

SN85G4 doesn't support Dual Channel DDR - but the memory below priced at £110

    TwinMOS 1GB (2x512MB) DDR PC3200 Dual Channel Kit (MY-007-TM)

from overclockers.co.uk is a lot cheaper than Kingston HyperX and Corsairs.

Is it a problem putting Dual Channel DDR's in the SN85G4?

    Any advice will be appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Chung

    P.S. I don't intend to overclock.

There's no problem doing that, it just won't run the RAM in Dual Channel.

No problems at all - they are not really "dual channel" configured memory modules, merely matched pairs that are tested to work well together, especially in Dual channel mode.

If you don't run them in dual channel mode, i.e. on a non-dual channel motherboard then they will still work perfectly as a pair.
