Recommendation for hard drive recovery software please

Hi,

First off, Mods if this is in the wrong section please move it and apologies.

Can anyone recommend a good recovery software? I'm not up with the sector at all at the minute. I can afford a couple hundred quid if that's what it takes, will be better than the £700 odd my wife's uncle has been quoted to recover it! It cost him £75 for them to tell him that the files he wants are still on there but can't afford the full to get them back.

I know there aren't any guarantees but I'll give it a shot.

I would try Retrodata - Duncan Clarke's company.

I know he mainly does business stuff but I also know he'll always do his best to help. Google will find him.

I've used stellarinfo
for my hard drive recovery and have never had a problem with it

PC Inspector File Recovery seems like a good free option that is quite popular. VirtualLab Data Recovery seems like the most popular program that you have to pay for.

However, if it is quite important data you are trying to recover I would spend the extra and get it done professionally by somebody rather than attempt it myself and risk losing the data.
