I've noticed a huge demand for Blackberries at uni, which really shocked me - didn't anticipate it at all.

The sole reason?

BBM - leading us back to the old conclusion - students love free stuff

A lot more of my mates own BlackBerry's than iPhones or any other type of phone. Out of my close circle of mates, I'm the only one not to own a BlackBerry of some form.

That's also another thing people like, choice, and you don't get that with the iPhone. You get the 1 phone and only in black.

I am also surprised by Blackberry but then my views are biased as I have a blackberry for work and whenever I see one, it reminds me on work!

I was a strict PAYG whilst at Uni, and that got topped as 3rd priority behind Food and Booze...

I too rember the good old days when mobiles was not as common, people actually met up and showed up on time

Personally I think its all about the image. Blackberrys were cool but is no more.
Now is the era of smart phone with large touch screens for social websites and games.

I never had a mobile phone in university. In fact, it was deemed to be like a cool gadget to have a mobile.

It's interesting to think back at how we organised we were before when people couldn't contact us.

However, I did remember waiting for like an hour for my friends to arrive in the car as it wasn't as convenient as calling them up now on the mobile.

There weren't any mobile phones when I was at Uni, at least, not commercial cellular and not in the UK. And we managed okay.
