I suppose the powered-off sound input is a novel idea, even if I'm struggling to come up with a real-world use. I guess one scenario might be if one of the USB ports could charge a device while the netbook is powered down, then you can use an MP3 player through the speakers while charging it... that's grasping at straws somewhat though, and heavily relies on one of those USB ports.
Fairly excellent?Tosh’s netbooks are well regarded for being pretty well built and having fairly excellent keyboards and we’d hope that these new models live up to that legacy.
Are they fairly average or do they excel?
In a couple of words, too expensive. Both should arrive some time in the first quarter of next year, although pricing hasn’t been announced just yet.
I've seen much fewer Toshibas in the workshop than pretty much any other mainstream brand (Samsung seem pretty decent as well). It's just a shame these don't have expresscard like Lenovo's first netbooks. Dual-core Atom's would be enough for a basic sketch pad for audio recording or Photoshop/Paint.NET. But yeah, the resolution sucks also.
