Wait what, positive WP7 news...... There was me starting to think that Microsoft had managed to snatch failure and defeat from the jaws of victory with this one.

WP7 has been gaining quite a bit of positive news light recently.
2012 will be a very interesting year regarding Microsoft and Nokia. They is a positive sense in the air that they two old giants are coming back with vengeance and to remind the tech industry of why they were so successful once.
Lots of HTC Desire owners (*waves hand in the air*) will be due an upgrade in the coming months. It'll be interesting to see whether they stick with Android, or move to something else. It'll also be interesting to see whether people stick with HTC.
Replace HTC & Desire for other manu & phone of similar era as required.
HTC hardware seems very good and reliable.much more reliable than Samsungs recent smartphones. I would be willing to give Nokia my money if they release some good phones on Windows.

Well I can classify myself as on of those (Sony Ericsson with X10) although I've got tell march to wait. Currently feel is I've put to much investment into android so there I will stay. Hope HTC stay strong as it would probably be one of their phones I'd get...
Edit: Just for the record Nokia is just a no go for me - They dumped my N96 like an unwanted Puppy weeks after I bought it. None of the reported updates ever arrived - They just pushed the N97. First £400 lemon I've ever bought.
Agreed, problem is that HTC's software hasn't exactly got a stellar rep - e.g. latest issue (according to Gizmondo at least) was some piece of stupidity with Sense where it was about as secure as an open door. http://gizmodo.com/5845867/massive-h...ss?tag=android
Back to Nokia - my X10's contract is due to expire in June - and I'll be watching what Nokia deliver for WP7 with interest. If they do something really good, then I'll switch from 'droid to WP7. Otherwise, I think Moto is going to get some of my hard-earned - that said I was looking at some HTC WP7 phones this afternoon, and they looked quite appealing.
Might be a bit weird for a self-confessed Android fan to say, but I'm quite pleased that HTC is giving more prominence to WP7 - it's got to be good for the consumer to have such competition. Now if they can start hitting iOS as well ... Apple is long overdue for a kicking (too much hubris imho)
Well the world waits for the all important Apple announcement tomorrow. However I am very interested in Nokias offering. Their hardware has been brill when I have had it, just let down by an OS which was good but was long past its sell by date IMO. I really want to try WP7.5 though.
I loved my Desire. Hacked it to death and its still going strong (sold to a mate of mine) with a custom ROM on it. I don't think I'd buy HTC again though. Nokia or Samsung probably.
My HTPC: Linky
On Saturday I jumped onto the wp7 bandwagon, I picked up the HTC Titan and so far at least I'm impressed with both the HTC hardware and Microsofts OS effort. The last time I used this combination of companies I owned a SPV M600 and that ended in a 'rage quit'
If you're planning on getting a new phone soon I'd encourage you to have a look at wp7, get some time playing with a device in store, just don't expect any help from the sales people because they seem pretty clueless about wp7.
(Typed on my HTC Titan btw, just had to get that in )
Agreed, when I bought my HD7 the sales person was practically pushing it away for an android or iphone.
Also to note, Mango is apparently out in the next couple of weeks which will put it in line with android and iOS functionality. When spotify is out for it I can finally throw my iphone in the bin, not because it's bad, but because the "If you don't have an iphone, you're not a smug a***"
brasc
Yeah. The sales guy I was dealing with kept pushing Blackberry and Android. I think Microsoft need to get sales people on their side, without them it doesn't matter how good the platform is, because people who don't read websites like this simply won't hear about it.
Not 100% convinced of that last bit - the local Orange store has a pretty large poster in their window pushing the HTC Mozart. And when I went past the Phones4U concession in the MacArthur Glen shopping centre yesterday they were pushing the HTC Titan and Radar in prime window position - in a similarly large display.
But, then again, maybe I've just been "lucky" and everyone else is busy waiting for the fifth coming (iPhone5).
