Heheh - Xenon, kinda like a lightbulb the exe extention can only spell good things. Hard drive Also notice there is an IP address at the bottom and its connected to a LAN, this can only mean that there is a network card in there as well

I'm glad it looks like there is going to be a HDD in it. There was a lot of speculation that MS where going to rid the Xbox2 of a HDD to partly help stop the huge modding scene.

Guys, this is from a development kit.

Sure, THAT one has a hard drive in it, but it makes sense to have one in a dev box. That doesn't mean the retail version will have one - though I'm sure some modding would let you stick one in.

Anyone have any idea if whenever this new xbox is out if it will be backwards compatable?
Its just my xbox is broken at the moment and am wondering if its worth getting a new one or just waiting for this new one?
(Tho to be fair its prob gonna take years for that to come out hey?)

Nope no hard drive this time - it costs too much, pushes the price of making it right up and in turn the profits down, they don't want a repeat of last time when they got in a price war almost straight away meaning they where making a loss on every console sold after the first week. They are more likely to go down the same path as other consoles with a memory card/stick.

As for modding your X-Box 2 it is very unlikely that it will be as easy to do as last time, the X-box 1 was a cut down PC but the X-Box 2 is more like a console in it's design so making 'upgrades' will probably require a far bit of work like the PS2. This has been a bit of a stumbling point to the M$ team: the X-Box 2 was orginaly planned to be out by Christmas this year, but it has sliped because they have had problems making a 'proper' console.
Also Microsoft have been doing research into a Phantom style console media center in America, that doesn't mean much yet but it could mean that in a year M$ could be looking to make an entertainment PC for the living room so they wouldn't want to release a console that can be upgraded by a home user that would in essence be the same thing.

Microsoft is saying that it's going to be backwards compatable but the question of the lack of hard drive that some of the X-Box games use is causing a fair amount of doubt, but I'm sure it will be it.

It is also going to have a Network Adaptor with it/built in because of the X-Box Live. They have been saying it's on of the reason of the success of the X-Box and both Sony and Microsoft will be going head to head on this.
