Impressive. Was looking at speech recognition at uni a couple years back and it is quite poor still but looks to be a significant step forward

Shame that Bing translate is a pile of cattle dung. Ever tried to translate a post on Facebook? It's garbage.

Speech recognition isn't bad, the problem is you have to train it to your voice if you want to do anything serious with it. This is fine for dictation or for a system you use every day, but it's tough when you want to use something like Google Voice which is expected to work perfectly first time (and it's not that bad, actually).

Love this, one step at a time we're getting closer to usable voice recognition.

Would have been quite entertaining if the demo was a Ballmer rant!
