Oh how thankful are we for the SG10, the 09 was so ugly!

Can't really say the Raven does anything for me but the new Fortress looks pretty nice.

I wish Silverstone would make up their mind on the Motherboard placement.

First they set out a normal lay out (CPU top & PCI lanes below) & then the RV01 they set it one way (working from the left of the case on a 90 spin layout) & then RV02/FT02 (working on the right side again on the same 90 spin) & now a upside down motherboard layout !...

I'm wondering how loud running a mid range gaming rig on the silverstone would sound

Quite clever in a way, although a bit annoying to have ports upside down at the back, but the weight of GPUs won't be a problem anymore, its now down onto the board instead of away from the board. And RAM will be easier to put in as some people although have nice cases still manage to mess up cabling

Re: News - SilverStone to bring Raven RV04, FT04 and SG10 to market

The SG10 looks great inside and outside, the SG09 had a great layout although a bit cramped, it was the ugly front bezel and the £95-100 price tag that stopped it being a success.
Even with the nicer bezel I'm not sure how well this will do at that price, £100 for a mATX case is a big ask even if it's probably the smallest mATX that can still pack in high end hardware, esp when their own PS07 is nearly half the price, granted not as small but for really small go to itx

On the new raven & fortress, looks wise I'm not sure need to see them with the side panels on.
the new raven looks like it's got an artdeco design going on (the vertical bars on the door leading up to the top where the interlace)
A major change from the angular forms of the raven styling
As is the major shift in the internal layout, these look like they took the new tj08e and ps07 and scaled it up from an mATX to a mid-tower ATX
However I can already spot an issue/deviation the psu is centred, one of the key points of the tj08e/ps07 frame is that the off centred psu created space for cables to be hidden behind the psu.
I know some took an instant dislike to it because the top vent wasn't central, but really all they needed to do was make the top vent larger or cover it with a case wide grill to hide the fact of the psu being off centre.
The saddest thing here is that they've gone away from the bottom to top air flow design the raven 03 had really nailed it and was showing great cooling results, but instead of persevering with it they've ditched it for a scaled up version of a layout that's been a success for them.

The Rv03 is a joy to work with even if it doesn't look that great. So much care goes into every silverstone case design. Im sure these new ones will be just as good. Still i would have loved a FT version of the rv03.

Re: News - SilverStone to bring Raven RV04, FT04 and SG10 to market

    Message to SilverStone:

The RV04 is the wrong way up. Try again.

The FT04 is also the wrong way up. It's also the wrong shape. Try again.

Don't get me wrong, I've nothing against new designs, but if you can't be bothered to build proper successors to some of the most innovative cases in recent years, come up with a new brand. Don't just pretend that these are sequels.

The SG10 looks like a future buy, any more definitive available date?

I liked the idea of the SG09 and the Sugo series but they never quite appealed to me aesthetically - the new SG10 however is a lot more attractive and definately worthy of consideration!

Re: News - SilverStone to bring Raven RV04, FT04 and SG10 to market

I wanted a small case with cooling performance that could match a big case but it also had to look good too. That's why I got the RV03, it also had this quirky design feature that I liked, where they rotated the mobo 90 degrees to take advantage of the stack cooling effect. I'm disappointed that the RV04 seems to have departed so much from the features and looks that I liked in the RV03.
