    1) This is massively needed.

    2) Using data supplied by the publishers might open them up to questions of validity/comparability.

    Sim City @ No.1?! Oh dear :-(

But yeah, an overdue development that'll be interesting to follow.

Battlefield 3 is a year and a half old but still in the top 10? Sigh.

I am suprised by the top 10. A few of them are older titles.

What about the top ten Free to play games. These are becoming more and more popular with there ingame content that can be purchased.

As if it was needed more proof the average level of intelligence in the UK is falling.

Four EA games in the combined chart the British really do like the worst.

Re: News - New digital PC games charts debut in the UK

Without displaying the actual number of games sold, as well as a complete list as to who is sending the information (and how up to date that information is), then this list is less than worthless, as is the information that it contains.

Breaking this down, by provider, would at least help us look at the market as a whole and identify any potential services that are cornering the market, be that Steam, or Supermarkets. It could also help identify what percentage of sales comes from small establishments.

Although I am not a hardcore gamer, it does bring into question how games such as Minecraft are accounted for, since they are not published through large distribution networks and I would imagine would be one of the highest grossing games of 2012, especially with the huge amount of videos available online

. I also question the statistics released from companies such as blizzard saying that 11 million people play World of Warcraft (or whatever the current number is). Since these expansions only feature in the charts for the immediate weeks of their launch, it does bring into question how successful the company is, if their 500,000 or so fans cannot get the expansion into the yearly top 10!

Also in addition, it does not say which "pack" of battlefield 3 is in the top 10. Is it a special bundle with all DLC included or the vanilla game? In my opinion such bundles should be treated counted with the BF3 vanilla sales, but the pack should be highlighed in a section afterwards. (#1 Battlefield 3 40,135 sales (31,995 sales for premium pack))

Out of curiosity, do they also count "voucher games" for example, EA Sim City free game voucher to compensate those buying Sim City when the server problems existed??

Do they also count free games, included as part of graphics card bundles?

Re: News - New digital PC games charts debut in the UK

It's actually not that different from the traditional game chart that you used to see, where The Sims, and then every Sims expansion pack was in most of the top 10 chart, and then there was some random fud game that was clearly being bought by grandma for the kids, that no respecting gamer would have bought.
