£1200 for a PC with Corsairs budget range Case and water cooler, and only a 600W PSU....err,no thanks.
Yes I do find it funny how Hexus regard an H60 as unprecedented cooling. I know they want to make a big deal out of the Haswell heat output, but really an H60 is no more powerful than a decent air cooler.
Whilst I kind of agree, it's the only way they could possibly have hit the price point. The 600W PSU wouldn't bother me unless I planned to add another 770, they could probably have even gotten away with a 500W unit but I think they made the right call.
The H60 is mid-range rather than budget, but from what I can see closed loop coolers handle high heat density well, which is more of a problem on Ivy Bridge and Haswell than it was on Sandy Bridge.

Not a bad price. My basket comes to 1178 inc vat and thats without their 2 year warranty...

People who build their own tend to be overly fussy, but then that's not the target market, so meh.
I'm not having a bad day, they just blew the budget in areas that don't interest me..GPU,SSD.
I've just configured it on their page to how I'd like it, and it came to £1166.
Fractal R4
Asus Pro Mobo
Corsair Hi80
Corsair 850w
16GB Ram
1TB primary, 2TB secondary Hdrives
Nvidia Geforce 660
Windows 7 64bit
The changes I made will last far longer and give better long term value than a quickly out of date GPU and (still unreliable) SSD's.
..just a question of peoples priorities thats all.
Hi Bagpuss,
Its great that you found our site flexible enough to get the system configured how you'd like it all solid component choices btw. I have a Fractal R3 myself great chassis.
Personally id never have another system without an SSD, and imo a 120GB is a little on the small side hence the 250GB.
Cheers
Well I must say the new prossesors and GPUs coming out lately really wanna build a new system had mine for 6 yes now never let me down amd3800x2 at 2.4 stock cooler lol a8n ski premium 2gb of blazing fast DDR 333 and 8800gts but I must say for a old system it never skips a beat lost interest in building systems last few yr with kids and stuff but I am interested the new Goody's that's coming put
