That was my understanding of jailbreaking to, seem fair enough to me.
Surely if someone was to pirate it, they'd also disable checks like this though.
I own a jailbroken device and I kinda agree with this. They need to make money and to a certain extent this disables the piracy that tends to ensue with paid apps, although I'm sure someone will crack it.
Depends on the motivation for the flood of cracked apps on dodgy websites.
If it's to provide people with a great product for free then they'll look for these 'features' and fix them.
If it's to get advertising revenue, or to trick people in to downloading key loggers, information stealers and spam message servers then maybe not...
