Well I do plan on getting one of these 2,560x1,440 monitors but only after I get a monster from Nvidia or AMD !

the PPI is just too low for that size, not acceptable for pc use, maybe console gaming :/

Shame they have not gone the extra mile and put a 120HZ panel in. Then I might be tempted

Seriously? Last time I looked there were quite a few 1080p displays at that size - so this'd definitely be a step up. I'm okay with a 23" at 1080p (and the work's provided a 19" at 900) so I don't think I'd have any problems using this. Curiosity compels me to ask: were you expecting a 4K in this size, or this panel in a smaller size?

One feature though that appeals - all those inputs and auto-switch between. My crappy LG has to have manual switching.

Career status: still enjoying my new career in DevOps, but it's keeping me busy...

But 120Hz = TN panel in the vast majority of cases. I'd rather have a gorgeous 60Hz IPS panel that absolutely shone, than getting a washed-out TN panel at double the framerate. Not to mention the fact that if you're able to push a game at 2560x1440 at 120FPS, you're probably using such high-end and expensive graphics hardware, that you're not looking at the £300-400 monitor market.

Currently you can't get a true 120 Hz 1440p panel. Only TN panels can do 120 Hz +.

Re: Reviews - Iiyama ProLite XB2779QS

Googling this monitor is available around £450 delivered. The Scan price is cheaper (and free delivery for some of us) but they don't currently have it in stock. I'm a fan of shiny screens vs. matt which can look grainy and this looks like a great alternative to the ebay cheap imports. Taking into account import tax it is about £100 more but comes with a 3 year UK warranty and a much better stand. I've seen quite a few 2560x1440 monitors and many of them are based around LG panels (including Apple) and exhibit backlight bleeding usually becasue the housing is just too cheap, Apple being the exception. But it is manageable and partly offset by the unobtrusive IPS glow the panels have. I'm very tempted.

I will say I have a crossover 27QW which cost me £237 after tax and has the same panel, yes it may be DVI only and have no OSD, but the saving even compared to this is massive.

I'll have to invest in a kill-a-watt meter to see if I can really justify 75W, but an otherwise lovely monitor

It's VESA-compatible, so you can pop it on a different stand?

I'm happy with my Asus G73-JH speakers for movies/tv shows, niche' question but would that mean I'd be happy with this monitors speaking?
