I'm sorry...is that a Majoras mask remake? Is this a thing?!
I almost wet myself when I saw that picture - but a quick google doesn't show anything up. I thought I missed something HUGE in the last Nintendo Direct, but appears that its just a mock up photo.
Shame
I forgot about the Wii U these months ,I thought they might have quit when PS4 and XBone came out.
I don't know. That's a little bit short sighted tbh - if anything, the last couple of months have been when the Wii U has picked up. Of course the 2 newer consoles have more potential going forward, however, I don't really think theres anything that amazing available for this Christmas yet. If anything, Super Mario World 3D is probably the best game to pick up this festive period. Not to turn this into one of those threads, just seems a little bit of a dismissive statement.
Windwaker HD is supposed to have kicked up a lot of sales. I expect Mario Kart 8 will have the consoles flying off the shelves.
After the last Nintendo Direct I'm seriously thinking of grabbing one.
Also....holy god that purple is horrible!
Even with the new Mario game, there's nothing compelling me to buy the Wii U.
To give that some context, I've owned every Nintendo home console since the SNES. I'm a massive Mario fan and very much enjoyed the few good first-party games on the Wii, along with a small number of third-party ones.
Even if there were a new Smash Bros available now, I still wouldn't go for the Wii U, even though I loved the GC and Wii versions.
Why?
It's just iterations of the same old, same old.
There's nothing particularly gripping about the Wii U. It's underpowered (again) with an account system that still doesn't do what it needs to.
As for Mario Kart, I was a fan up until (and including) Double Dash, but the Wii version did nothing for me particularly, especially with the change to sliding. The Wii U version looks equally lacklustre.
Unfortunately I'm just not Nintendo's demographic any longer. That's the only logical reason I can think of for them not wanting to ever properly pursue the adult market alongside the younger market.
As for Nintendo sitting on Starfox and F-Zero, not to mention some major other key franchises, I have no logical theory other than madness. Some new first-party material wouldn't go amiss either.
It's days like this that I seriously wish Nintendo would go third-party. And yes, I'm quite serious. It might make them focus on games more whilst leaving the hardware to others.
