Stream processors ... "up to" 640? So partners have the option of disabling some and still calling it a 250X?
Seems like a bit of an odd choice...
I wonder if these are Cape Verde or Bonaire based cards??
Cape Verde has 640 stream processors, so that would make sense.
So there are no 512 shader parts then - what happens to the Cape Verde salvage parts?? Also a 512 shader part would have been ideal for the Kaveri A10 CPUs too.
AMD have a 512 core R9 255 listed on their website: http://www.amd.com/us/products/deskt...-series.aspx#5
Although, I have no idea why it's given then R9 tag when 250X to 260X are R7...
I see no reason to not stretch the extra $10 to get a Bonaire based card with Trueaudio and more GCN shaders.
I could understand it if they'd brought power gating to GPU CUs - if your card could switch off shaders it didn't to save power that'd be great. But somehow I don't think that's what it means...
As the full URL says ... "OEM Solutions". Dell and HP get to sell R9 desktops on the cheap, basically. No TrueAudio, so it's just a direct 7750 rebadge.
Yup, says as much here:
