I've noticed you can get double the capacity for the same price I paid for my SSD just over a year ago, time for an upgrade soon methinks!

I wouldn't mind a 512GB or another 256GB, my current 256GB is getting a bit full now as games are getting bigger.

Great news ! I've been planning a new build and currently have a 120GB samsung evo pro on my list of parts, hopefully in a couple months i can change that to a 256gb version for the same price.

Re: News - SSDs to enjoy strong growth in 2014 thanks to falling NAND price

Well I've just bought my first SSD. I've wanted one for ages but it wasn't essential so couldn't really justify spending on one, despite being extremely tempted many times.
I would like a larger one as I only got 120gb for os, so it would be nice to see the prices drop further.

It's great, I'm planning on getting another SSD because the prices are so good. Now the only problem is RAM, 2 years ago, I bought a G.Skill 8gb RAM for $44, now the same exact one is $99

    512GB now sells for £160!
Compare this with with a year ago, when I bought my 120GB for £70

Cannot believe the price drop on SSD`s. I bought my original 60 gig about 3 years ago and paid almost £400 for it, Ive just bought this for my OS http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Seri...ng+ssd+840+pro and this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Basi...amsung+ssd+1tb for my games

Re: News - SSDs to enjoy strong growth in 2014 thanks to falling NAND price

I've seen some decent speed 256GB models around the £80 mark recently, so it seems that I may actually be able to get one of these to make boot even faster at some point. Which, as someone building on a budget, is pretty shocking...

Re: News - SSDs to enjoy strong growth in 2014 thanks to falling NAND price

If NAND prices are falling, is there any chance of seeing the larger capacity (750GB+) SSD's fall in price too or - heresy of heresy - seeing some consumer-grade large devices, like a 1.5TB or larger? I'd love the idea of moving my 1TB user data area to SSD, but there's no way that I'm rich enough to afford £400 for the privilege of an 840 EVO big enough to accommodate.

Got my entire "apps" area on one 500GB 840EVO, and I share your pain - I've got less than 100GB left. I'm definitely going to have to find a way to migrate lesser used games onto other disks, or start backing them off. When I bought that 500GB, (to replace an increasing full 250GB HDD partition), I thought "oo, that's plenty of space - it'll take months, or even, years to fill that up". What a naive idiot I was!

Career status: still enjoying my new career in DevOps, but it's keeping me busy...
