Wow, I didn't realise this was being done. I loved SM:AC (and the civ series) so will definitely have a crack at this.

Because you need close to the metal high FPS for a turn based strategy game?

Playing Civ V on a huge map with graphics up to max is actually pretty intensive.

Very excited for this, and with Galactic Civilizations 3 not too far off I can see a good chunk of the back end of this year disappearing

No, because you need as much free CPU time as possible for a complex turn-based strategy game I thought complex strategy games were the classic example of CPU-bound games...?

Yep that's a fair point, though I've yet to be convinced that mantle will necessarily reduce CPU time - it could increase it because you're not bottlenecking on singlethreaded performance as much.

This I didn't expect from SM's in which I thought only storyline during old era and new era was expected but taking it to space is gonna beautifull and fun to play you got yourself a buyer.

It is at max settings but it will run (just) on a last gen macbook air at a push and its not as if fps is a major concern for it. A large game with many AI is a bastard on you cpu though.

no, because civ style games are CPU hogs due to the need to calculate the game logic, so with mantle that CPU overhead for graphics will be minimised.
