This and the FT05 don't have 5 1/4 bays. Not sure the world is ready to let go of optical drives (slim ones are quick expensive compared)

If they do go down the route of no full optical bays, they should keep one small bay ready for fan controllers..

    I'm Batman...

At least they're finally moving away from 5.25" bays. I know there are still uses for them, but I personally haven't used the ones in my case for over a year. It's just becoming wasted space in may situations, and since they're going for the smaller size, it makes sense (to me) to do away with them here.

Ditto. This RV05 looks tacky and plasticy. Every time theres a new fortress or raven case people bring up the venerable FT02, I would have thought Silverstone might have realized this and just updated the old solidly built design instead of releasing ever cheaper and worse versions.

    FT01 - good
    FT02 - awesome
FT03 - meh decent case but why call it FT03? Its nothing like the previous cases in the line!
    FT04 - tacky plasticy abomination
FT05 - better than the FT04 but wouldn't ditch my FT02 for it. The only case that comes close today IMO is Fractals define R4, I don't even like doors on a case but the 12kg weight (quality build!), reasonable price and decent design make it a winner in my eyes.

Wow, that's... hideous. I like the rotated layout, but there's no way I could live with such an ugly case.

Keep the layout and produce a budget priced version of the FT02 - that'll sell more readily, IMO.

Slightly surprised at the strength of the reaction to the looks... I mean, it's not my cup of tea but I personally wouldn't call it offensively ugly, not by a long way. It certainly doesn't warrant quoting lyrics from terrible 90s novelty-pop records, Tunnah

Cooling and noise are superb though - and I bet that if your system had a smaller PSU, only one GPU and an m-atx motherboard those figures would get even better.

I think it's quite nice, a little more restrained than predecessors. But good cooling and quiet features are nice to see. I would at this price as I know none of my friends have one and it's interesting.

Re: Reviews - SilverStone Raven RV05

Yes looks are always subjective, personally I don't think it's that bad, the one thing that really jars for me is the angle on the internal frame, if that had been square within it I would like it more.

The other thing I don't much like is the top grill, I much prefer the angled louver design on the older ravens as they fit in better with the rest of the design.

Still the overall internal layout is a major improvement over the FT04/RV04 internals, interesting that they are going for a more compact mid tower internal design now.
