Glad to see the power draw measurements too; I agree about the motherboard being a likely cause for the higher-than-expected numbers, it's a compact board vs a high-end full ATX board, plus I've found ASRock boards tend to be quite efficient.

I certainly hope these make it to retail a bit faster than the 7600 though!

Meanwhile the much faster FX8350 seems to have quietly dropped to £120 making it a fiver cheaper than the 7850K (Scan prices, not hunted around to see if you can do better).

Supposedly an FX8370 and a Kaveri based Athlon II X4 860K are being released too.

    Re: Reviews - AMD A10-7800 (28nm Kaveri)

It seems the A8 7600 and A10 7800 are finally available:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/store/Componen...rice+ascending
    http://www.scan.co.uk/shop/computer-...socket-fm2plus

Shame I have no free dosh currently, otherwise that A8 7600 looks very tempting.

It also appears a budget FM2+ mini-ITX motherboard with a 4+2 phase VRM has appeared too:

    Edit!!

AMD is giving away free games with the A10 CPUs now:

    Re: Reviews - AMD A10-7800 (28nm Kaveri)

After all this waiting for the a8-7600 and now the a10-7800.

With that a a8-7600 should be more than enough in my HTPC (current a8-3870k is fine).

All I need is a board and APU so for a £100 upgrade its epic and should get £40 for the 3870k, no brainer really.

Funny that a 65W APU takes less power than a 95W one. It would be interesting to see how the a10-7800 compares to an underclocked a10-7850.

Managed to order the a8-7600 from amazon for £59.41, hopefully they will deliver at that price, I don't mind waiting (kind of got use to waiting for this APU).

    Re: Reviews - AMD A10-7800 (28nm Kaveri)

Interesting review, I imagine if you want to crossfire with the apu you can only go for an R7 265(x?) maximum? An R9 270 simply won't be compatible etc.

If you want that much CPU grunt, you just plug it in and forget crossfire. The APU graphics become irrelevant at that level, though that means you would be better off with an FX6300.

    Re: Reviews - AMD A10-7800 (28nm Kaveri)

The A10 7800 is £90 on Amazon (preorder) at the moment.

I'm going to be doing a HTPC build with it in the next couple of weeks (or whenever Amazon get stock), but it looks like motherboard support for cTDP is limited, the only mITX board I can find that definitely supports cTDP is the ASRock FM2A88X-ITX+, added in their 5th Aug BIOS update.
