For those of you that has never seen this....

    http://ubcd.sourceforge.net/

Download and burn it to a CD. Its invaluable !
Its got everything from memory testers, CPU burn in programs, HD recovery / testers, and even booting into a modified Knoppix directly from the CD !

Its one of the best utilities i have ever come across. And being pre-OS can stop a lot of headakes if you want to test your new overclock !
Oh, and considering its booting off the CD, it only takes seconds compared to a floppy disk.

If your a system builder, overclocker, or just generaly like to mess with your PC : Trust me, download this

(copied between hardware and software as it fits into both)

Ooooh, nice, I'll give that a go. I have an AXP 2000+ here that'll post at 2.5GHz, but I haven't been able to set it up and thrash it properly 'cos the only hard disk I have is on its last legs and I daren't risk moving it. Cheers!

I presume you download it as an ISO? Forgive the n00bness, but how do you use Nero to burn the image properly? I downloaded Knoppix once, burnt it off, and it didn't work. I think I ended up with a CD-ROM with a copy of the .iso file on it.

When you load nero - skip the annoying wizard and just select File---> burn image. From here load the ISO ( and make it look @ all files *.* ) and then voila, it will give you the burn screen options to get the disc created.

I'll be getting it, but which one?

Should I be getting basic or full? I don't use linux, but is the full version ONLY for linux users? I really don't understand what it means about "insert".

If you dont understand what INSERT is after reading the docs, then just get the normal version
It allows customisation of the linuxness thats on the CD. You only need to mess with that if you want to change stuff (hence, you know how to use linux already).

    No.
It boots linux OFF the CD
It means you can have a desktop, and even customise it with more linux programs, use different startup codes ect....

Read the doc's, its all explained in there

PC utilitities are like airbags - they kill as many as they save.
This CD looks great. But watch out:
Some of the download links are to the 3.0 version, not the 3.1.
