Damn, that's a shame. Their laptops were very nice looking and the ultrabooks were definitely slim.

Pity. My little NC110 netbook isn't bad although some of the Samsung bloatware I had to remove was annoying.

Well they haven't exactly being doing much about putting themselves out there with their laptops in Europe. Never the less, I've seen more than a few Samsung laptops about, so ostensibly when people actually come across them, they're interested.

That's a shame, the ativ book 9 plus looked really nice. I wanted one but they seemed to be hardly available anywhere to begin with.

Re: News - Samsung to exit European PC market, for now

When I was looking for a tablet a few months back, Samsung were doing some great deals on small ultrabook-esque machines. But unfortunately I'm not sure that's where the money is right now.

The whole laptop wasn't selling for that much more than the constituent parts.

Re: News - Samsung to exit European PC market, for now

I wonder if this is more down to VAT, export costs etc that make it hard for Samsung to make any profit worth bothering with.

With the lack of other makes of Chromebooks - this may be ultimately bad news for Google

Re: News - Samsung to exit European PC market, for now

Less competition is need good, but I can understand their decision. They have always been right on the edge of the market for laptops really - never selling enough to be really recognised for them and making enough mistakes in the low end (they made some great looking laptops that were terrible!).

Chromebooks..well i am surprised they even tried it, no surprise they have given up on them they still don't make any sense and just end up confusing the market imo.

Samsung are best at making TVs and Cameras in terms of consumer goods (obviously their parts/screen business is even bigger) and that what they should focus on. They have found success with phones+tablets too even if I personally hate that design style they have taken, but it makes sense for them to stick with that they do well and let the periphery stuff fall by the wayside.
